<p>Throughout the season, here is a list of players who made the Top Ten and why. </p>

<p><strong>#1</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076702' first='Shane' last='Douma-Sanchez']</strong> | PG | Del Norte:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076702' first='Shane' last='Douma-Sanchez']</strong> was selected as the 2022-23 New Mexico Boys MaxPreps Player of the Year. He averaged an insane 32.5 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game and 5.1 assists per game. He led the state in scoring and there wasn't a more valuable player in the state than <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076702' first='Shane' last='Douma-Sanchez']</strong> this year for the Knights. He led Del Norte High School to the 4A State Playoffs for the fourth straight season. </p>

<p><strong>#2 </strong>Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1500488' first='Damian' last='Perez']</strong> | SF | Carlsbad:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1500488' first='Damian' last='Perez']</strong> was arguably the best player in the state this past year. He led Carlsbad to another postseason berth and was one of the states leading scorers. He displayed great shooting ability from outside and everywhere else on the floor. There was little weakness to his game. </p>

<p><strong>#3</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076701' first='Judah' last='Casaus']</strong> | SG | ABC Prep:</p>

<p>After a successful high school career at Del Norte High School for three years, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076701' first='Judah' last='Casaus']</strong> joined ABC Prep as a senior and made some noise on the grind session. Going up against some of the top talent in the country, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076701' first='Judah' last='Casaus'] </strong>held his own scoring the basketball and with his slashing ability and improved outside shooting. His two-way play on the defensive end never wavered as he showed he can control and take over a game on either side of the court. </p>

<p><strong>#4</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1507055' first='Daemon' last='Ely']</strong> | PF | Taos:</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='1507055' first='Daemon' last='Ely'] from Taos High School was arguably the most dominant big in the state this past year. His numbers were off the charts, and it was done by playing winning basketball. He averaged a monster double-double this year, posting 23.8 points per game and 14.1 rebounds per game. He ranked 5th in scoring and 2nd in rebounding in New Mexico while leading Taos to the 4A State Semifinals. </p>

<p><strong>#5</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1124213' first='Sean' last='Alter']</strong> | C | Volcano Vista:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1124213' first='Sean' last='Alter']</strong> was an opposing matchup nightmare every night out. He helped Volcano Vista win their second consecutive 5A State Title with his scoring, rebounding, athleticism and defense. He brought so much to the table and the Hawks couldn't have won either state title without him. </p>

<p><strong>#6 </strong>Class of 2023 | [player_tooltip player_id='1360191' first='Andrew' last='Hill'] | CG | Sandia:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1360191' first='Andrew' last='Hill']</strong> from the Sandia Matadors was the best player on a championship caliber team. He was selected as an All-State, All-Metro and All-District players in his efforts this season. He was a crafty 17 points per game scorer this year that had the total offensive package. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1360191' first='Andrew' last='Hill']</strong> could heat up quickly and was at his most dangerous when he was aggressive looking to score which opened up his passing to get his teammates involved. </p>

<p><strong>#7</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076699' first='Gideon' last='Harris']</strong> | G/F | ABC Prep:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1076699' first='Gideon' last='Harris']</strong> had another solid season for ABC Prep through the grind session. He can play either guard position and can play the wing positions if needed with his versatility. [player_tooltip player_id='1076699' first='Gideon' last='Harris'] is dangerous with his midrange jumper around the free throw line area and can explode to the rim with a quick first-step. </p>

<p><strong>#8</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1293133' first='Jett' last='Wyckoff']</strong> | SG | Hope Christian:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1293133' first='Jett' last='Wyckoff']</strong> and the Hope Christian Huskies proved a lot of people wrong this year. He emerged as a top ten prospect not just in his class but in the state with his play. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1293133' first='Jett' last='Wyckoff']</strong> averaged around 22 points per game and 8 rebounds per game for the Huskies and they needed every piece of that production this year. He was among the state's top sharpshooters this year and had several offensive explosions. His play helped Hope Christian reach the 4A State Championship Game. </p>

<p><strong>#9</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1301617' first='Adam' last='Montoya']</strong> | SG | St. Michael's:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1301617' first='Adam' last='Montoya']</strong> proved to everyone in the state this year that he was one of the state's top players around despite being in the 3A Class. He is one of few players in the state that can be successful in any classification in New Mexico. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1301617' first='Adam' last='Montoya']</strong> was a double-double player throughout the season. He was a three-level scorer that wasn't one dimensional in his offensive game. </p>

<p><strong>#10</strong> Class of 2023 | <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1362491' first='Caileb' last='Parham']</strong> | SG | Eldorado:</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1362491' first='Caileb' last='Parham']</strong> was easily a top ten player this past season. He was one of the states most explosive offensive talents. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1362491' first='Caileb' last='Parham']</strong> led Eldorado to another postseason appearance and was a consistent 22 points per game scorer for the Eagles. He could get to the basket at will and finish through the contact with ease. </p>
