Tijan Barrie flashed to the right block, sealing his post-up before immediately dribble–drop stepping to turn over his left shoulder for the touch finish. His mobility down low allowed him to turn and go consistently, slashing into the middle of the lane with fluid footwork and balance. On the left block, Barrie turned baseline using his shoulders, backside, and hips to shield the ball and carve out space under the rim. For a big man, he defended in space extremely well, effectively guarding the ball on the perimeter across positions. Tijan Barrie showed the lateral movements, instincts, and hand placement to deter drives, force extra passes, and alter shot selections, anchoring the defense with discipline.

Tijan Barrie sets a tone with his physicality down low and his knack for carving out deep position in both the high and low post, using brute strength. Once established, it’s nearly impossible to move him off his spot. In the low post, he engaged his man with a drop-step power move, quick baseline spin, or strong shoulder bump to finish through or over defenders. At 6-foot-9, his combination of early post timing, wide base control, and sheer force showcase his potential as a dominant interior presence on the block.

The 6-8 junior power forward continues to have a stellar start to the season where he is a productive rebounder at both ends of the floor. Barrie also brings a smooth touch and handle of the basketball where he can quickly get up the floor in transition. He is a lob threat as well where he has good hands and footwork when it comes to positioning around the rim. Barrie is just in his second season playing basketball in the United States after coming over from England prior to his sophomore season.

Brings an old school style of play to the court for a big man, he doesn’t mind banging inside the paint and found a high amount of success with his production against opposing bigs. He’s very comfortable with his back to the basket, does a solid job of protecting the rim and plays the game with a solid motor. Overall, he put together a solid showing throughout the weekend, averaging just under 15 PPG.
