Congratulations to the Beulah Miners on your Region 7 Championship and your 3rd place finish at the State Tournament.

PHD wants to give a big shout-out to Jeremy Brandt from Beulah, he was selected as the Region 7 Coach of the Year and Class B Coach of the Year!

[player_tooltip player_id='1203556' first='Trey' last='Swanson'] was voted/selected as the Region 7 Athlete of the Year! Congrats Mr. Swanson!

[player_tooltip player_id='1144978' first='Aiden' last='O'Brien'] (2024) |5'11 G| Beulah

22-4, 3rd place at State. He had an injury in his sophomore season but was back this year and really shined. O'Brien is a very good athlete that moves extremely well. He improved over the course of the year and his shot only got better as time went on. Aiden is tough to guard when he gets going downhill. O'Brien has a nice pull-up game and he can finish at the cup. He is also a tough defender. Aiden can effectively guard multiple positions. He is a 2-way player for the Miners and they are excited to have him back for another year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1139583' first='Tyson' last='Wick'] (2024) |6'2 G| Hazen

16-8 record. 16.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 5.6 apg. Tyson is a floor general, a creator, and the straw that stirred the Bison drink. He is a well-rounded player with impressive skills and instincts. Wick is a shooter and a playmaker. The ball is beautiful coming off his hand and it always looks like it is going in. I like his body control when slashing/finishing and his court vision is impressive. Wick will be one of the top PG's in the new class A next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1144977' first='Trace' last='Beauchamp'] (2024) |6'4 SG| Beulah

22-4 record, 3rd place at State. 15.6 ppg, 7 rpg, 3.5 apg, 55 2FG%, 38 3FG%. I did not know much about Mr. Beauchamp before the season started, but it did not take long for him to become one of my favorite players to watch in ND. He makes the game look effortless at times and his left-handed shot is enchanting. Trace is a precision mid-range and 3-point shooter. He is a gamer that played his best ball against top teams. Beauchamp is a gifted slasher that weaves through the defense with no problem. If he keeps improving, Trace will be a top guard in Class A, and I could easily see Beulah being #1 in District 4. This Miner has a bright future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1706259' first='Ben' last='Hosman'] (2023) |5'11 G| Glen Ullin/Hebron

17-6 record. 14.4 ppg, 4.4 apg, 1.8 spg, 47.4 FG%. He and Unruh were a fantastic 1-2 punch and the Bearats were a scary team. Hosman is a smooth athlete and a serious shooter. Hosman excelled as a wing/SG. I liked the pace and flow that he played with. His floater/runner game impressed me and he finished well with both hands. Ben was a 3-level scorer and an exciting offensive player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1144987' first='Weston' last='Zacher'] (2024) |6'6 PF| Grant County/Mott-Regent

11-11 record. He is a BIG man that takes up space around the hoop. However, Zacher can make positive plays happen both inside and out. Weston creates matchup issues for opposing teams. Coaches have told me that they have lost sleep over figuring out their matchup with Zacher. He has shown impressive timing when blocking shots and when cleaning up the glass. He finishes well from the lane, hits outside shots, and Weston always plays with great effort.

[player_tooltip player_id='1331560' first='Kanyon' last='Unruh'] (2023) |6'0 G| Glen Ullin/Hebron

17-6 record. 16 ppg,3.2 apg, 1.5 spg, 50.2 FG%, 80.4 FT%. He and Hosman made up a dynamic backcourt for the Bearcats. Kanyon is a true PG that ran the show and controlled the tempo. It seemed like he could get a clean shot about any time that he wanted. Kanyon was an opportunistic player that made plays on the glass and created TO's on D. He was a good perimeter defender. He was a creative slasher with stealthy moves. Much like Hosman, Unruh had a smooth & effective floater game. Kanyon could also cash in from deep. Kanyon was a top-notch PG in Class B this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1879031' first='Redsky' last='Starr'] (2023) |6'4 F| Killdeer

13-10 record. This kid is an athlete! The Killdeer roster had him listed at 185 lbs, so he is a big kid as well. Starr can get the job done on the inside and outside. His size and athletic ability made him a tough matchup. Starr made a difference on the defensive side of the ball by rim-protecting and by blocking shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1163446' first='Maddox' last='Pierce'] (2024) |5'11 G| Hettinger/Scranton

5-17 record. Pierce definitely improved over the course of the season. Maddox has a well-rounded game with a solid skill set. He makes plays going to the rim. Once Pierce gets downhill, he finishes well around the basket. If you overplay him, Maddox will adjust on the fly and make something good happen for the Nighthawks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1144605' first='Jake' last='Shobe'] (2024) |6'0 G| Dickinson Trinity

15-9 record. 19.4 ppg, 4 rpg, 4 apg, 2.5 spg. I can not think of a better cutter in high school basketball at the moment. Jake is a great cutter because of his super high IQ and his sensational situational awareness. He is a lefty that can finish with both hands at the rim with no problem. His pull-up game is elite and he makes it look so easy. Shobe sees the floor well, reads the defense like a book, and makes critical decisions in milliseconds. Shobe is a STUD, a fierce competitor, an excellent teammate, and a joy to watch on the hardwood.

[player_tooltip player_id='1203556' first='Trey' last='Swanson'] (2023) |6'5 C| Beach

14-9 record. 22 ppg, 14 rpg, 2 apg, 2.5 spg. Region 7 Senior Athlete of the Year. At 6'5" 250 lbs, Trey is a beast on the court! The BIG Mr. Swanson finished his career with 1,548 points and 1,004 rebounds. 1,000+ rebounds is crazy! Trey is Top 20 All-Time in ND history for career rebounds. He was double-teamed all season long and still put up a double-double every night. Trey might have been the best offensive rebounder in class B. Even when he had 2 guys boxing him out, Trey would still grab O-rebounds. He certainly has a nose for the ball! He was great at getting his own misses and sticking them back in. Swanson is a back-to-the-basket player with power moves and an excellent head fake. He was also a willing passer that kicked the ball out to teammates for open shots. Swanson had a top-notch senior season and a historic career for the Buccaneers!

[player_tooltip player_id='1144931' first='Bishop' last='Duffield'] (2024) |6'1 G| Bowman County

20-3 record. 2nd Team All-State. 21 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 3 apg, 2.5 spg, 66 FG%, 40 3FG%. Much like his brother, Bishop is a skilled player that can put the ball in the hole. Bohden is the bigger offensive threat but Bishop had his fair share of splashy scoring games as well. Bishop shot a scalding hot 66 FG%! It is rare for a guard to shoot that high of a %, talk about efficiency! Bishop is an all-around player that rebounds well and gets the job done on both ends of the floor. Bishop & Bohden are both gifted athletes and fantastic playmakers. Look out for the Bulldogs next year, I could see them being #1 to start the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1144932' first='Bohden' last='Duffield'] (2024) |6'1 G| Bowman County

20-3 record. 1st Team All-State, was All-State last year as well. 24 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 3 spg, 52.3 FG%, 36.4 3FG%. He has finely-tuned skills, is a hot shot shooter, and finishes athletically at the rim. Bohden plays fast and furious. He is always attacking and he can fly up and down the court. He attacks the paint with electricity and he is tough to handle with only one defender. If you give him an inch around the 3pt arc, Bohden is going to make you pay 3 points at a time. I am excited to watch him and his brother play with ECI this spring/summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1879043' first='Jace' last='Kovash'] (2024) |6'1 SF| Dickinson Trinity

15-9 record. Kovash is an all-around 3-sport athlete and he never seems to get rattled on the basketball court. Jace is never afraid of the big moments. He provided a scoring punch and was a great compliment to [player_tooltip player_id='1144605' first='Jake' last='Shobe']. Jace is a good set shooter and he can get hot from 3-point land. Kovash contributes to all facets of the game and he is an unselfish teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='1138817' first='Talan' last='Batke'] (2023) |6'2 G| Hazen

16-8 record. 24.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3 apg, 2.5 spg, 73 made triples. He was a game-changer with his shooting, skills, and overall playmaking ability. Batke could take over a game and make momentous plays at big moments in the game. One of my favorite stats is his 35.5 ppg against Bowman in 2 games this season. He plays with swag and his shake off the bounce made defenders look silly. He is not all show, Batke is a smart kid that made his teammates better. Talan is a pure bucket and a baller that need a serious look from college coaches.

[player_tooltip player_id='1879053' first='Austin' last='Buckman'] (2023) |5'10 G| Heart River

12-13 record. He has a quick first step, which allowed him to get into the paint and score at the basket. Buckman was the engine that made the Cougars go! Austin always played with high energy, gave 110% effort, and he left it all out on the floor.
