Here are the 2023 prospects who could make an All-State team for the first time.
Tyler Tejada Tyler Tejada 6'7" | SF Teaneck | 2023 State NJ , 6’8 SF Teaneck
Tejada had a monster season for the Highwaymen as he led them to a 23-6 record and an appearance in the North 1 Group 3 final. The Towson commit can score at all three levels and his jumper is tough to contest with his release point. Tejada has a nice handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finish around the rim. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his length to get blocks and steals on defense. Tejada has been one of the best players in the Garden State this season and should end his varsity career on an All-State team.
Akil Watson Akil Watson 6'7" | SF Roselle Catholic | 2023 State #105 Nation NJ , 6’7 SF Roselle Catholic
Watson put together a strong season for the Lions, culminating in a 23-point performance against St. Rose in the Non-Public B final. The Arizona State commit knows how to get to his spot on the floor and rises up with confidence on his jumper. Watson can also finish around the rim and can draw contact in the paint. He has the length to defend multiple positions and is a strong rebounder. Watson’s play in the state final helped Roselle Catholic retain its state title and should put him on an All-State team.
Bryce Stokes Bryce Stokes 6'3" | SG Paterson Eastside | 2023 State NJ , 6’3 SG Paterson Eastside
Stokes led the way for the Ghosts all season long, which ended up in them taking home the Group 4 title. The 6’3 guard has a good handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and can finish around the basket in a variety of ways. Stokes is more than just a slasher as he has a nice release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. He is a strong rebounder and moves his feet on the defensive end. Stokes is a gritty two-way guard prospect who made plays at both ends of the floor for Paterson Eastside all season long.
Jackson Tindall Jackson Tindall 6'7" | PF St. Peter's Prep | 2024 New E , 6’7 PF St. Peter’s Prep
Tindall had a strong season for the Marauders as he helped them take home the Non-Public A North title. The 6’7 forward knows how to get position down low and can finish through contact in the paint. Tindall has a nice release on his free throws and can knock down open jumpers from behind the arc. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and makes plays on the defensive end. Tindall’s ability to make plays in the paint is something that helped his stock in a big way for St. Peter’s Prep in 2022-23.
Mario Castro-Sanchez Mario Castro-Sanchez 6'0" | PG Gill St. Bernard's | 2023 State NJ , 6’0 PG Gill St. Bernard’s
Castro-Sanchez had a big season for the Knights as he was one of the top shooters in the Garden State in 2022-23. The 6’0 guard has a lightning quick release on his jumper and buries triples in bunches. Castro-Sanchez can shoot either off the catch or bounce, but can also finish around the basket. He is a good passer and can get deflections on the defensive end. Castro-Sanchez put up big numbers for Gill St. Bernard’s throughout the season and it could land him on an All-State team this season.
