Players to Watch: NPS (Part 2)

The National Prep Showcase returns this week to crown an undisputed National Champion of the post grad world, and like every year the field is absolutely loaded with 16 teams from all over the country. The event will be held at Clark University in Worcester, MA this year, and the games start at 10 AM on Wednesday and it will be a bracket style play with a consolation bracket for teams to play at least 3 games.   There are so many talented players and teams in this year's event, we'll be looking at some of the players to watch in each area the teams are coming from. Taylor Bol Bowen | 6'9” PF | Brewster '23   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/06/0-6-1.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/06/0-6-1.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1213202" /></a></figure>   The Florida State commit is one of the most versatile and high ceiling prospects that will be at the National Prep Championship, and his versatility makes Brewster a whole different team when he's on the floor. He's a long and athletic forward who can switch and guard multiple positions and use his length to get deflections and challenge shots, he can put it on the deck and get to the rim where he's a good finisher and he's able to make shots and plays for others too. The 6'10” big man can stretch the floor and is a knock down shooter from deep, he's great as a screener and is an option to score as a roller and as a pop man and he has a good IQ and passing ability for his position too. The 6'3” combo guard is a super smooth off the bounce with good shift and the ability to create space, he has great form on his jumper and good rotation allowing him to make tough shots from multiple levels and he's an athletic and crafty finisher around the rim too. The 6'6” wing is tough nosed and physical wing who will go in the paint to bang for rebound and finish at the rim, he is a good shooter from deep who can get hot quickly and knock down shots in succession and he impacts the game across the board with his production level.   Keyshawn Tillery | 5'11” PG | New Hampton '25   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/03/eQM6vG2-_400x400.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/03/eQM6vG2-_400x400.jpg?w=400" alt="" class="wp-image-1829310" /></a></figure>   One of the most exciting and dynamic young guards you'll see at the championships, Tillery is a must watch player who has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best in the country as just a sophomore. The 5'11” guard is a super explosive athlete who has cat-like quickness and can get downhill where he has good hang time as a finisher, he touches the paint and is able to make plays for others both in the half court and in transition and he is a good on ball defender as well.   [player_tooltip player_id='2317323' first='Mason' last='Blackwood'] | 6'6” WF | New Hampton '25   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/11/Blackwood-Mason-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/11/Blackwood-Mason-scaled.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1671059" /></a></figure>   Blackwood is another impressive sophomore for this New Hampton team that is already getting recruited at the highest of levels, and he's going to have a lot of eyes on him at the Championship this week. The 6'6” wing has a great frame and is strong on the defensive end and when he gets downhill, he can score the ball from all three levels and is a knock down shooter from deep and he's productive across the board as a rebounder and playmaker too.
