Andrew Nagy, Orange Lutheran
The 6-foot-8 junior has a mix of outside skill and interior touch and footwork that makes him an effective inside-out player. Nagy can catch on the perimeter, face his defender up and use the bounce to drive to the rim and score but can also play in ball screen action as a pick and roll finisher or finish drop off passes on guard penetration. Nagy scored the game-winning dunk with three seconds left in the Lancers’ win over Oak Park.
Danny Kennard, Foothill
This was our first look at Foothill this season and Kennard impressed. The 6-foot-9 sophomore is a true back-to-the-basket post presence with a consistent right-handed jump hook in the lane. Kennard has great feel when sealing post position and turning over his left shoulder to score and is definitely one to track over the next two seasons.
John Gazzaniga John Gazzaniga 6'6" | PF Orange Lutheran | 2025 CA-S , Orange Lutheran
Gazzaniga is a multi-sport athlete and it shows on the basketball court. The 6-foot-7 forward, who also plays quarterback on the Orange Lutheran football team and has some Division 1 college prospects on the field, is a physical interior guy on the basketball court. He uses his combination of strength, athleticism and sure-hands to finish through contact in the paint and crash the offensive boards for second-chance opportunities.
Joshua Garland, Leuzinger
We had Garland in our previous story on the best passers and his overall game lands him in this one, as well. The 6-foot-4 sophomore has a throwback type of feel to his game as he likes to operate from 15-feet and in out of face-up situations. Garland can put the ball on the floor and use his body and footwork to score around and through defenders. He finished with 20 points in Leuzinger’s loss to St. Margaret’s.
Xinyi Li, St. John Bosco
Li is a mobile and big-bodied forward/center with an inside-out skill-set. The 6-foot-9 senior can stretch the floor to the 3-point line off the catch, score on straight-line drives and has the hands, feel and footwork to play in dribble-hand off or ball screen action with guards and wings.
