Doughty breaks rebounding record

Last night saw Ban Davis extend their winning streak to 19 with a dominant victory over Decater Central 82-44. However, the story of the night was that senior center [player_tooltip player_id='1042497' first='Zane' last='Doughty'] broke the all-time school record for rebounds with the 4 boards he grabbed. Doughty has always been known as a "work-horse" on the glass and it almost a no-brainer that he would achieve this goal. Doughty will be taking his elite rebounding to Valparaiso next year. Ben Davis will host Gary West on Saturday.

Burton goes off

[player_tooltip player_id='1049169' first='Markus' last='Burton'] continues his Mr. Basketball campaign with his phenomenal performance in Penn's 85-42 win over Northridge. In 23 minutes, Burton dropped 40 points on 15-21 shooting including 8-11 from three. He also added 5 assists as well. I think at this point, Burton has wrapped up the Mr. Basketball award as there is really nobody else that can make the comparison with the type of year that Burton is having. Penn is now 11-1 and have a date with Mishawaka Marian on Friday.

Herdes joins 1,000 point club

Evansville Mater Dei improved to 5-6 last night in a 62-46 win over Vincennes Lincoln. The story of the night in southern Indiana was that Mater Dei senior shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='868261' first='Blake' last='Herdes'] joined the elite 1000 point club with his performance last night. Herdes is a 6'3 guard that plays with a ton of toughness. Has a solid pull-up game and is pretty good at creating his own shot off the dribble. A three-sport athlete that will surely play some sport at the next level.
