PH NorCal was in the gym the first week in January. We're at the mid-way point of high school basketball in the area. This weeks games are more or less tune-ups as teams prepare for their upcoming league schedule. Here are some of the standouts from the first week in January.

[player_tooltip player_id='1530585' first='Luke' last='Isaak'] 6'2 2025 SG from San Ramon Valley

Fresh off a title at the Damien Classic. SRV got behind the hot shooting Isaak who knocked down 7-3ptrs in this game to lead all scorers with 30pts. He hit 3's in a variety of ways, off the dribble, spotting up in the corner, and using screens to his advantage. He had a few jab step pull-ups as well. He's a feisty defender who'll work to stay in front, and fight through screens.

[player_tooltip player_id='1380868' first='Parker' last='McClaughry'] 6'3 2023 SG from San Ramon Valley

He along with Isaak combined for 55 of the 79 points put on the board. He could be emerging as one of the clutch performers on this team. He has the experience and the shot making abilities to knock down big shots when the game is on the line. He was 15-18 from the free throw line, 13-14 coming in the 4th qtr. He has good movement without the ball. He had 5 rebounds, and 25 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1383576' first='Seamus' last='Deely'] 6'5 2024 Point Forward from San Ramon Valley

He's not a point guard, but he does what point guards do when the ball crosses half-court. He's an excellent facilitator anywhere above the free throw line. His work at the high post using triple threat qualities to dribble, pass, and shoot standout. He slides to the hoop on the screen for solid finishes in the paint. He'll get his rebound, and work to defend.

Rostand Olama Abanda 6'4 2023 G/F from Priory

A solid player who scores, and rebounds for this team. His 3pt shooting is improved, he had 2 in this game. He's handling the ball more often on the perimeter and using his body and strength to get into the paint for buckets, his dribble drive spin move was working. He's a solid body that gets rebounds. 13pts, 5rebs. He can defend in the post, and out on the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='950886' first='Tyler' last='Harris'] 6'7 2023 G/F from Granada

Harris is one of NorCal's top 2023 unsigned prospects. He transferred into Granada and has made them one of NorCal's top teams with his versatile skill set. He can play positions 1-5. He understands his role, and is most effective when he gets into the flow and the game comes to him. He's productive on both sides of the court. He had 24pts, 6rebs, 3asts, 3stls, and a block in the game we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='1403907' first='Avery' last='Sanchez'] 6'1 2025 Guard from Pitman

A solid guard who played a good all-around game when we were there. He struggled a bit with his shot in the first-half, but that didn't prevent him from having an effect on the game. His solid ball handling, passing, and willingness to get others involved was on display. He did get it going in the second half dropping a couple of long 3's short jumpers, and getting into the paint for floaters, and jumpers. He finished with 16pts, 5rebs, 4asts.

Cole Martin 6'2 2026 G/F from Pitman

It was our first look at the 2026 prospect who made his contributions coming off the bench. He has good length, and a decent skill set to work with. He helped on the boards, brought the ball up court, and hit 3-3ptrs in the game. He'll fill lanes in transition. He has lengthy arms, and foot speed to defend on the perimeter. He had 11pts, 4rebs, 1reb, 1stl, 1blk. He's on the Wright's Watch List.

[player_tooltip player_id='1114867' first='Mateo' last='Jackson'] 5'11 2023 PG from Amador Valley

A solid guard with good speed, and ball handling skills along with the vision to make solid passes up court and around the perimeter. He has a pull-up jumper off the dribble that goes in. He has the ability to get into the paint and finish with either hand to keep defenders off balance. He makes good decisions with the ball, and rebounded from the guard position. He scored 10pts, 7rebs, 2stls.

Nate Jetter 6'3 2024 G/F from Amador Valley

At 6'3 he was aggressive going after rebounds. He did a solid job of moving, and cutting without the ball to the basket that led to a couple of buckets. He can rebound, push, and pass the ball up the court with good speed. He has a mid-range jumper, and makes a good effort to run the court in transition. He came close to a double double with 15pts, 8rebs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1256546' first='JP' last='Kerrigan'] 6'1 2024 CG from Sacred Heart Prep

He made the big 3ptr to send the game into OT. Kerrigan is a solid ball handling guard who handles ball pressure bringing the ball up court. He can settle the team up top, he sees the court, and makes strong passes. He's stronger than he looks using his body to protect the ball while making his move off the dribble for step backs, paint jumpers, and kick-out passes. He had 3-3's, 15pts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1255936' first='Sam' last='Norris'] 6'6 2023 F/PF from Sacred Heart Prep

He's the man in the middle for this team. The lefty was consistent attacking the rim from the high post. He used one or two hard dribbles and was aggressive, sometimes drawing a foul. He looks a bit stronger, has long arms and handles the contact working for rebounds, and points in the paint. He had 10pts, 5rebs and a block.
