Elder was in control from start to finish with a disciplined offensive performance that included 12 assists on 24 made field goals. The Panthers got quality looks in the paint and Johnson was the recipient of numerous drive and dishes for easy looks. With a height advantage on the Wayne frontcourt, Johnson was finishing through contact with either hand. Johnson also hit the only 3-pointer the Panthers made all game. He also had a couple dunks in the fourth quarter to put the icing on the cake for a dominant victory. Elder will look to get revenge on conference rival Moeller in the regional finals.

Johnson is one of two committed prospects in this article as he decided to stay close to home and commit to Thomas More. Elder previously sent Carson Browne to Thomas More, who have made the jump from NAIA to Division II for this upcoming season. Johnson is a skilled forward who I think will breakout for Elder with more of the offense setup for him this winter. Capable of spacing the floor and attacking a closeout, Johnson can also punish a guard on a switch with his back to the basket. Expect Johnson to be one of the top forwards in Cincinnati this season and impact a lot of games in the always loaded GCL-South.

Johnson was a prospect I found on the same day I saw Dalen for the first time. Elder is one of the top teams in SW Ohio and Johnson plays his role well as a forward with some versatility with putting the ball on the floor and making smart passes. Not much of an outside shooting threat, Johnson does most of his scoring inside the paint where he can use his size over smaller defenders. His numbers don’t jump off the page but with the slow tempo that Elder plays at, the eye test is a better indicator for what he’s capable of doing on the court. I’ll be curious to watch him again this spring and summer.

Another new name who really intrigued me, Johnson has had a really solid season for Elder so far. A versatile forward, Johnson could face up and attack off the bounce and either look to finish at the rim or make the extra pass. Good size, knocked down a 3-pointer, skilled off the bounce, Johnson has a lot of skills that Division II, NAIA and Division III programs look for. I’ll have to watch Johnson again to get an exact feel on what level of college prospect he is, but he’s going to have some fans at the next level due to his skill set.
