About Amare
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am an unselfish player with a team mentality. I have great basketball IQ, and I utilize that to help our team excel and win. I dominate in the paint, and I am comfortable in the Center position. My biggest strength is my defense. I dominate with rebounds and blocks. My offense is a combination of dominating with assists and scoring in the paint. I will surprise you with my ability to shoot 3's!
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I value commitment and loyalty. I exhibit that on and off the court. I strive to be the kind of player that coaches like to coach and players like to play with. I am a hard worker. In the gym early and getting shots up every chance I get. I am disciplined with my diet and live, breathe, eat basketball. My best friends are my teammates. I value our family mentality.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I have been involved with nonprofit organizations, helping low-income children with clothing, providing food bags to families in need, and creating special birthdays for children experiencing homelessness. I also worked with my mom's organization to provide new Nike basketball shoes for over 1200 highschool athletes that were in need. It was a great experience and news even came out for it.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
My mom works in the nonprofit sector, so I have grown up with values that reflect giving back to the community through volunteering. I am an unselfish player who is always looking at how our team can win and that is reflected in the number of assists that I average each game. My high school coach has helped me to develop leadership skills on and off the court. It all starts with character.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
My greatest challenge was when my grandpa died in 2023. My grandpa was my main male role model and my best friend. Watching Alzheimer's disease take so much from him was hard to watch, and then losing him was harder. Basketball and my teammates helped me tremendously. His dream was to live long enough to watch me play collage ball and I am working hard to make that happen.
