Top talent headed to high major programs
Devin Royal Devin Royal 6'6" | PF Pickerington Central | 2023 State #49 Nation OH , Dailyn Swain Dailyn Swain 6'7" | SF Africentric | 2023 State #81 Nation OH , George Washington III George Washington III 6'3" | CG Chaminade Julienne | 2023 State #92 Nation OH , Austin Parks Austin Parks 6'9" | C St. Mary's Memorial | 2023 State #166 Nation OH and Marlon Barnes Jr all signed to the high major programs they were committed to. Royal and Parks will be Ohio State Buckeye’s, Swain is staying in state at Xavier, while Washington III is headed to Michigan. Barnes is headed to Pitt, teaming up with former high school teammate John Hugley IV.
Some prospects setting up special moment to sign
Both Lawrent Rice Lawrent Rice 6'4" | PG Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State #184 Nation OH and Rayvon Griffith Rayvon Griffith 6'6" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 State #78 Nation AZ waited to sign but fans of Murray State and Cincinnati don’t fear. Rice will be signing during Wayne’s Warrior Madness on Saturday from 6-8 P.M. and Griffith is waiting to sign with his family in attendance after leaving for a prep school in Arizona. Both of these players are huge commits and will be signing shortly with the school they are currently verbally committed to.
Spire has big class sign
Spire is one of the top prep programs in Ohio and had multiple players sign to Division I programs yesterday. Danny Young Jr was originally in the class of 2022 when he committed to Cleveland State but is taking a post grad year at Spire and signed with the Vikings yesterday. Daniel Pounds signed with Old Dominion, Ma’Shy Hill with Abilene Christian, Tyshawn Archie with James Madison, Jonathan Ogunfuye with Mount St Mary’s, Marcel Bryant with Nebraska Omaha and Donovan Hunter Donovan Hunter 6'7" | PF Spire | 2023 State OH with Kent State. Hunter is the only prospect we’ve seen from this group, but we’re excited to add these players to our rankings when we scout them in person for the first time.
Low and mid major programs ink up commits
Lance Hayes Lance Hayes 6'4" | SG St. Vincent-St. Mary's | 2023 State OH joined Hunter in signing with Kent State yesterday. Chase Walker Chase Walker 6'8" | C St. Charles | 2023 State OH made it official with Illinois State, becoming former Ohio State assistant coach Ryan Pedon’s first signing from Ohio. Amire Robinson Amire Robinson 6'4" | SF Buchtel | 2023 State OH signed with Nevada while his high school teammate Khoi Thurmon Khoi Thurmon 6'1" | PG Buchtel | 2023 State OH signs with Purdue Fort Wayne. Eian Elmer Eian Elmer 6'6" | SF Taft | 2023 State OH signed with Miami (OH) as Travis Steele gets in-state recruiting rolling at his new job. Chico Johnson Chico Johnson 6'2" | SG Toledo Central Catholic | 2023 State OH signs with Drake, a program with high expectations in the 2022-23 season. Solomon Callaghan Solomon Callaghan 6'0" | PG Wadsworth | 2023 State OH and DayJaun Anderson DayJaun Anderson 6'3" | SG Ponitz | 2023 State OH have both signed with Wright State, the Raiders have done an excellent job getting in-state talent to their program. Ryan Nutter Ryan Nutter 6'3" | PG Dublin Jerome | 2023 State OH has also signed with Marshall. Only one player in the top 16 of the Prep Hoops Ohio 2023 rankings is currently uncommitted, as Universities want to lock in high school prospects early to then focus on the transfer portal in the spring.
