Prep Hoops Season Predictions:
Scott’s Branch HS – The Eagles have played in the last 3 straight Class A State Championship Games and have collected all runner-up trophies. The Eagles finished (19-4) last season.
Carvers Bay HS – The Bears will be in contention like always with good basketball tradition and a willingness to win games at homes.
Johnsonville HS – The Flashes are rolling on the Gridiron currently at (8-0) and will probably see a late start to basketball season this year. Harris Avant retired this past year and was replaced by Head Coach Casey Geter.
Hemingway HS – Will Hemingway HS be open after this season? Could another school in Williamsburg County be shutting down?
East Clarendon HS – Who will replace Ellis Graham Ellis Graham 6'9" | PF Gray Collegiate | 2024 State #305 Nation SC ? The Wolverines will battle for the last playoff spot here this season.
** Keep in mind C.E. Murray HS merged with Kingstree HS to form one school this past summer.
Prep Hoops has seen Gibson play since the 8th grade when he was first coming on the varsity level. RJ is a multi-sport athlete for the Eagles over in Summerton. Gibson a left-handed guard brings a lot of toughness and grit to the floor. Randy wants to win at all and he’s hoping this season to put a State Championship in the trophy case at Scott’s Branch HS. RJ really stuffs the state sheet each night when he plays. Last season Gibson averaged 15.3 ppg, 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.5 steals. Currently Gibson is playing Wide Receiver/Cornerback for the Eagles football team.
Gibson is best when attacking the rack and playing on the ball as a defender. RJ plays the game at 100% percent at all times and won’t he even hesitate a second to jump on the floor for a loose ball or take a charge.
Gibson is the Prep Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year this season.
Bell will have to provide leadership from out top this season after the football season is over for the Bears. Tony is a water-bug point guard who has a great nose for the ball. Bell brings constant defensive pressure and won’t show no problems sacrificing his body on the defensive end of the floor. Tony is small in height, but he sure makes up for it in determination.
The name Kind is just one them on the roster for the Eagles. Younger brother Jordan Kind will be a sophomore this season while playing out at the shooting guard position.
Tyler brings a fearless mindset to the hardwood for the Eagles. Kind averaged 6.9 ppg, 2.7 steals and 2.6 assists last season. Tyler is a tough-minded kid for the Eagles just like Randy Gibson Randy Gibson 6’1″ | PG Scott’s Branch | 2023 State SC . These two will provide plenty of senior leadership from the backcourt this coming season.
Highlights
Wilson plays 3 sports for the Flashes at the small Florence County school. Travis is a Tight End/MLB in the fall and also plays baseball in the spring for the Flashes. Travis is an undersized post and really likes to mix it up at times down low on the block. Wilson averaged 10 ppg and 6.7 rebounds last season for the Flashes (16-7).
Ellis Graham Ellis Graham 6'9" | PF Gray Collegiate | 2024 State #305 Nation SC has left East Clarendon HS and now will play at Gray Collegiate this coming season. Ellis a very promising junior plays down in the post and was really active last season defending the basket for the Wolverines.
