Preseason All 804 Candidates (Part 2)

With the high school season right around the corner, we will take a look at some preseason All area teams, focusing on the different parts of the state. Here's a look at part two of some of the players we think could be on the All RVA (or 804) teams.   [player_tooltip player_id='1403956' first='Reuben' last='McEachern'] | 5'10” PG | Carmel School '23   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/09/McEachern-Rueben-CBG-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/09/McEachern-Rueben-CBG-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1595564"/></a></figure>   McEachern has been a favorite of mine for a while now, and with a revamped Carmel team that will surprise a lot of people this year, he'll have a chance to find himself on lists like this throughout the season. He's a true floor general who leads by example and vocally on both ends of the floor, he's skilled with the ball in his hands as he can make plays for himself and others and he has a toughness and high motor that impacts the game in winning ways.   [player_tooltip player_id='1489063' first='Brandon' last='Jennings'] | 6'2” PG | St. Chris '24   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/07/Jennings-Brandon-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/07/Jennings-Brandon-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1531282"/></a></figure>   Jennings is 100% my pick for breakout player in Richmond this year, and I'm not alone as there are many coaches saying he could be one of the top guards in the area after his big summer with Team Push. He's a natural point guard who has unbelievable feel and is deadly in pick-and-roll situations and in transition, he's an explosive and crafty finisher around the rim and in the midrange and he brings it on both ends of the floor and makes winning plays in a lot of different ways.   Kenard Wyche Jr. | 5'8” PG | Varina '24   <figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/01/Wyche-Kenard-crop-2898x1903-1611940521.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/01/Wyche-Kenard-crop-2898x1903-1611940521.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1123926"/></a><figcaption>Photo: Lancaptures</figcaption></figure>   Wyche was an All-State selection last year helping Varina to a state championship, and with some of their top players graduated and moved on he's going to have a chance to impact the game even more this year coming off a big summer with Team Loaded VA. While he isn't the biggest guy on the floor he brings constant pressure defensively, he can get in the lane with the ball in his hands and is a very good finisher that draws contact and gets to the line often and he's a guy who never stops getting after it.   [player_tooltip player_id='1489070' first='Danzelle' last='Coles'] | 6'3” CG | Highland Springs '24   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/09/Coles-Danzelle-CBG-1-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/09/Coles-Danzelle-CBG-1-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1602909"/></a></figure>   Coles was another All-State selection for another state championship team in Highland Springs, and now as a junior it's his team and he'll be the go-to guy as both a ball handler and scorer as well. He's a very good athlete who has a quick first step and attacks the rim hard where he can elevate and finish, he gets hot quickly and can knock down tough shots from deep both off the catch and off the bounce and he has natural ability that will only continue to improve throughout the season.   [player_tooltip player_id='1494105' first='Donovan' last='Richardson'] | 6'5” CG | Collegiate '25   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Richardson-Donovan.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Richardson-Donovan-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1479270"/></a></figure>   Richardson announced he is reclassifying to the 2025 class this summer, and the coaches have already started to come in after his big summer with Team Richmond 17U where he was arguably their best player while playing up and is one of the top guards in the state in his class. He has terrific size for the position and knows how to use it to see over defenders and finish, he's very strong when he gets downhill and initiates contact and finishes through it, he can score from all over the floor and does so efficiently and he can make plays for others too.   [player_tooltip player_id='1164551' first='Latrell' last='Allmond'] | 6'8” PF | John Marshall ‘26   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/09/Allmond-Latrell-CBG-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/09/Allmond-Latrell-CBG-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1605082"/></a></figure>   Allmond is going to take the Richmond basketball scene by storm this year, as the 6'8” forward has all the tools to be one of the top players in the country in his class and is already a man amongst boys despite his age. He's very strong for his age and will outmuscle bigs much older than him in the post, he is a big time athlete who is still growing into his body which is scary, he's versatile and still has room to improve and he plays with a great motor and toughness that makes him very productive in a number of different ways.
