WESTMINSTER — The annual Compton Magic Fall League is a must-stop on the schedule of high school tune up events in Southern California. In this piece we take a look at the standout performers from The LEAGUE's opening Sunday slate of games.

Jovani Ruff, 2025, Long Beach Poly

As always, Ruff impressed with his shot-making ability from multiple areas of the floor. At 6-feet-5, the highly-ranked sophomore is a lethal shooter off the bounce from behind the arc and when pulling up at the 15-17 foot level. What separates Ruff as a scorer/shooter is his ability to make shots efficiently and without dominating the ball. Ruff is a consistent shooter off the catch who moves well without the ball and has a quick release.

Kory Dodson, 2025, Riverside Poly

You have to really understand the game to appreciate how Dodson impacts the game. The 6-foot-3 forward plays much bigger than his size and that showed as he battled with highly-regarded center [player_tooltip player_id='1486135' first='Tee' last='Bartlett'], a 6-foot-10 junior, of Coronado of Nevada. Dodson used his strong lower body to root Bartlett off of his comfort spots on the block to make it difficult for him to get into a flow offensively. Dodson is a high IQ team and individual defender who is willing to step over and take charges and rebounds in and out of his area. Offensively, Dodson is a very good passer, screener, roller and finisher.

[player_tooltip player_id='994905' first='Marcus' last='Adams'], Jr., 2023, Narbonne

Adams' offensive versatility was on full display on Sunday. The 6-foot-8 forward has the ball skills and IQ to handle the ball in transition and initiate and create offense for his team, he can break defenders down in isolation and get to the rim or pull up for a jump shot and he can play without the ball either in the mid-post or knocking down catch and shoot three's. Adams also impressed as a weak-side help defender and shot blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='1434799' first='Nate' last='Simon'], 2023, Eastvale Roosevelt

What always stands out about Simon is the energy and toughness in which he plays the game. The 5-foot-10 senior uses his speed and quickness to push the pace in transition and can really knife his way through a defense and finish around the basket. In the half-court setting, Simon has a quick and tight crossover that helps him create space from defenders to get paint touches or knock down a perimeter jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='856637' first='Sebastian' last='Mack'], 2023, Coronado (NV)

Mack is a dynamic scoring guard whose combination of speed, quickness and relentless motor makes him a tough cover in a variety of settings. The 6-foot-3 senior is shot out of a cannon in transition and is a downhill attacker of the basket who can finish through contact or use his body control for an acrobatic layup. Mack is best when elevating over the defense for jumpers from three-point range or the mid-range area of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='994964' first='Tyler' last='Rolison'], 2023, St. Bernard

The pace in which Rolison plays is impressive because at times he looks erratic, but he finishes it with a controlled and detailed result. The 6-foot point guard was another dynamic scorer in the gym Sunday and, if you've seen him play, you know the Vikings' senior makes the difficult play or shot look easy. Rolison has deep three-point range off the bounce and is a crafty finisher around the basket.

Wyatt Studer, 2023, Eastvale Roosevelt

Studer is an under-the-radar senior whose versatility and athleticism are an intriguing combination. The 6-foot-8 forward runs the floor well in transition and look to catch and finish when rim-running the middle of the floor or works hard on the offensive glass for a second chance opportunity. Roosevelt uses Studer in trail action where he can catch, reverse the ball and follow into ball-screen action. The senior showed that he's a capable shot blocker and lob catcher at the 4/5 spot.
