Coaches from all college levels need to pay attention to what is happening with the growth and development of the state. Idaho is booming.
#1 PHI || Blake Buchanan Blake Buchanan 6'10" | PF Lake City | 2023 State #172 Nation ID is the NEW #1 player in the state. Not only has he proven his play on the floor but he is projecting high as he will head to Virginia next year and their coaching staff is really looking forward to getting their hands on him. Blake is a rim protector that can block shots when he is defending one on one but he is also a great rotation player that can slide over and block shots away from the ball as well. His rim to rim runs are good and getting better. He is a tuff player to handle on the blocks as he should be with his size but he strength and length really take him over the top when it comes to one on one play. Blake has his high school team as one of the favorites to win it all in 5A. Stay tuned.
#2 PHI || Kolton is staying home next year as he has committed to Idaho State. Kolton has that electric style of play that allows him to create for himself as well as create for others. When it comes to a handle on the ball he is has a strong handle and he does have some wiggle when he is breaking defenders off the dribble. He can hurt the defense when they go under as he can shoot the ball from distance and in the mid-range off the bounce. Good pickup by Idaho State to keep him in-state.
Highlights
#3 PHI || Aj is one of the higher stock rising bigs out here in the Mountain West. He is raw but he is showing growth in his game and he is doing it quickly. With offers from ARMY, Air Force Academy and Idaho State look for him to make a big surge during the high school season and after as teams look to fill spots with bigs as they seem to go quickly. I know that there are a lot of NJCAA D1 schools hoping they can land him and turn him into a HM Prospect. Look for him to gain some more traction.
#4 PHI || Nathan has great next level size and he has a high ceiling. He is bouncey and strong as he is going to go up in traffic and punch it through with one or two hands. Off the dribble he can create space but he can also elevate and hit jumpers on the move. That is a very translatable skill he can take to the next level. Although he can knock those jumpers down from deep and the mid-range he does not settle for jumpers, he can attack the rim and with that strength he can put them in in traffic and through contact.
#5 PHI || We had the chance to watch Kobe play a lot last season and even this Summer and he is just an all-around talent. He is a player that will be able to hit all those stats as he can rebound, he has good vision and he plays defense so he will get steals and blocks. On offense he plays the right way as the ball doesn’t stick with him but he can attack and get to the rim. He shoots the ball well and has range and he is just a three-level scorer. Keep and eye on him as he could be a big get as his upside is great.
