Parker Cage
About Parker
Expert Analysis
Van Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Cage has maintained his blend of shooting, athleticism, and off-the-bounce ability. He hit jumpers, both off the catch and bounce, knockdown 47 3pt’s this year and appeared comfortable toggling between operating as a creator and threat without the ball averaging a steady 3 assist a game. Cage mixed in a nice array of downhill drives and finishes through contact or at the rim. He utilizes his length well defensively (District Defensive Player of the Year) to intercept passing lanes and push the break in transition. Add in his usual rebounding sense, and it’s easy to see the appeal he would be any college program. High IQ player that has a 3.5 GPA.

. Parker did a nice job attacking the rim, and with Hayfield struggling offensively a lot of this game, I thought Parker did a good job keeping them in it, especially in the first half.

had a fantastic week. Parker is a great shooter and an improving defender. Parker plays either guard position and is an excellent off-ball shooter. Parker had a career-high 26 points in a blowout over Annandale, then had 21 points in a win over Thomas Jefferson.

16p 1r vs PGCA
Shot 40% from 3 on the day, giving his team a boost in the 1H to cut the lead to as little at 2. Cage moves well off the ball to free himself up for open looks and is learning to mix in backdoor cuts to keep the defense honest when he gets a pindown screen. Cage knocked down three triples off of movement to space the floor for his drivers in the 1H. He then baited the defense nicely to draw a foul on a 3 late in the first corner to earn a trip to the line and make it a 2-possession game for the Hawks. If he can continue to make strides on the defensive end of the floor, he can be a sneaky good pickup late.

Only caught stretches of Hayfield’s games the past two weekends, but always saw good flashes from Cage as a perimeter defender, cutter, and passer that was effective in limited touches. Cage knows what he’s doing on the catch before the pass arrives and is making the right read to drive, shoot, or hit a teammate with a skip pass. Finished with 13p 4r 2a in a win over Bonner-Prendie
