So today we will review the Pennsylvania Class of 2023 rankings and review five players who used the July grassroots circuit as well as camps/showcases in August to increase their recruiting stock.
Below are five southeastern Pennsylvania 2023 stock risers you need to keep an eye on for the remainder of the fall and into the 2022-23 high school season.
6 to 2… Alassane Amadou Alassane Amadou 6'9" | PF SCH Academy | 2023 State #188 Nation PA – 6’9” / SCH Academy / Philly Pride National / Wing: Amadou refined his perimeter shooting stroke which now makes him a threat to score at all three levels. This long and crazy athletic prospect with hops still specializes in catching transition lobs, but because of his improved halfcourt game, he is now a more complete player. On defense, Amadou is shot blocking and rebounding force. Amadou recently committed to Marquette.
37 to 21… Ruben Rodriguez Ruben Rodriguez 6'2" | PG Reading | 2023 State PA – 6’0” / Reading / Team Final EYBL & TF Red / Point Guard: Just when we thought Rodriguez’s stock could not go any higher, he goes out and posts a monster July. With a more scoring focused mentality, Rodriguez spent July destroying opponents at Hoop Group and EYBL tournaments. Along the way he captured multiple championships, a tourney MVP, and a tourney Defensive MVP award. This summer he was also selected to Puerto Rico’s U18 national team. His electric, multi-faceted skill set is highly entertaining to watch. Rodriguez is committed to Rider.
189 to 182… Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson 6'4" | CG Phelps School | 2023 State PA – 6’4” / Phelps School / Boys2Men / Combo Guard: Wrisby-Jefferson used the momentum from an excellent spring circuit as a catapult for a jaw dropping stretch of play during July. He is a prospect with size, length and athleticism who is a five-tool player. He can score at all three levels and handle the rock some. Wrisby-Jefferson possesses a high IQ and unselfish mind set, so he can also facilitate for teammates. Defensively Wrisby-Jefferson is extremely versatile as he can guard 1-5. Plus, he is a force on the glass and provides weak side shot blocking. In mid-August Wrisby-Jefferson committed to Brown.
238 to 233… Charlie Thornton Charlie Thornton 6'4" | SF Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’4” / Radnor / Prim3 Tim3 / Wing: Thornton’s half court skills continued to develop this summer and as a result his stock continues to rise. His three-point shot is now nearly automatic. His improved dribble drive skills combined with his elite quickness enable Thornton to thrive in isolation play as he can blow past his defender for a lay-in. Of course, Thornton still excels in transition where he can finish with authority. His size, wingspan and instincts make Thornton an intimidating rim protector. He holds offers from D’Youville University (DII) and Salisbury (DIII).
352 to 325… Earle Greer Jr Earle Greer Jr 6'7" | SF Rocktop Academy | 2023 State PA – 6’6” / Abington Friends / Philly Pride National / Wing: West-Ingram is a slashing style wing whose athleticism, quickness and feel for the game jump right out at you. This past summer it was his significantly expanded shooting and dribble pull ups skills he displayed that caused his rise in our rankings. West-Ingram is menace at the defensive end, block shots and slicing through passing lanes for steals. This week West-Ingram received offers from Rider, St. Bonaventure, and Quinnipiac.
