Today, we’ll take a look at part one of the players transferring out of the state of VA and what they bring to their new team.
Caleb Foster Caleb Foster 6'4" | PG Notre Dame | 2023 State CA-S | 6’4” PG 2024
Previous School: Oak Hill Academy
New School: Notre Dame HS (CA)
Foster left Oak Hill when legendary Head Coach Steve Smith retired and headed back to California, however in his time at Oak Hill he solidified himself as one of the top guards in the country and will go back to CA as the best guard in the state. The 6’4” Duke commit is as smooth as they come and has great feel and IQ for the game, he can knock down shots consistently and he will likely step into Duke next year as an immediate impact player.
Jamie Kaiser | 6’6” WG 2023
Previous School: Bishop Ireton
New School: IMG (FL)
Kaiser blew up this summer going from a somewhat known prospect that stood out in the DMV to being a nationally ranked player that was being recruited across the country before announcing he will stay home and go to Maryland next year before announcing he will head to national powerhouse IMG for his senior season. A former two sport star Kaiser blew up this summer showing he’s a natural scorer that can knock down shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce, he is excellent at creating space and making tough shots in the midrange especially when the shot clock is running down, he’s an athletic finisher and he’s an underrated rebounder and defender as well who plays with a great motor.
Davin Cosby | 6’5” WG 2023
Previous School: Benedictine
New School: Word of God (NC)
Cosby was the breakout player of July going from a handful of mid major offers to being one of the most sought after shooters with double digit high major offers and breaking the national rankings for multiple sites as well, and he leaves Benedictine to go to a WOG team that is absolutely stacked with talent for next year. Cosby has improved immensely over the past few years from a stand still streaky shooter to a guy who can get open on the move and is excellent hitting shots coming off of screens and in transition, he can put it on the deck and attack closeouts or get downhill and finish around the rim and he has the ability to get hot and take over games with his scoring ability.
Connor Dubsky | 6’4” WG 2023
Previous School: St. Stephen’s St. Agnes
New School: Putnam Science (CT)
Dubsky was another big time stock riser this summer with Prospect U and SSSAS in the DMV Live, and he recently committed to Rhode Island soon after he announced he will head to the NEPSAC for his final season of basketball. He’s another guy who has improved dramatically over the past few years, going from a shooting specialist to a crafty scorer who can create space in the midrange, use his shift off the bounce to get downhill where he’s an athletic finisher and he can still drill it from deep extremely consistently.
Gabriel Jones | 6’3” WG 2023
Previous School: Colonial Forge
New School: Archbishop Carroll (DC)
Jones had a breakout junior season at Colonial Forge and followed it up with a big summer with District Basketball Club, and now he’ll head to the WCAC as he transfers to Carroll and will bring with him a lot to help as both a scorer and a defender. Jones is a strong wing with the ability to use his strength to keep ball handlers in front and he makes the hustle plays off the ball to get turnovers and keep plays alive, he can get downhill and finishes well at the rim and through contact and when he gets it going he can knock it down from deep and score it in bunches.
Macon Emory Macon Emory 6'7" | SF Perkiomen School | 2024 State PA | 6’7” WF 2023
Previous School: Blue Ridge
New School: Perkiomen (PA)
Emory is a native of Pennsylvania who will head home after spending the last few seasons at Blue Ridge where he showed flashes of brilliance and played along his brother Houston who is know a freshman at Delaware. Emory’s a big wing who can knock down shots from deep and get to spots where he can make tough shots in the midrange as well, he can get hot quickly and fill it up in bunches and within the system that Perkiomen plays he could thrive as a shot maker and playmaker as well.
