We saw showcases, live viewing periods, and other events where prospects had the opportunities to showcase their talent. Here’s 10 NorCal Risers. These prospects made the biggest jump in the rankings mainly because we hadn’t seen a lot of them.
Money Williams Money Williams 6'3" | SF Oakland | 2023 State CA-N 6’4 Guard of Oakland HS
We saw Williams first during the high school season where he showed glimpses of what he could do on the court. The live periods during the spring and summer in front of college coaches, the lefty broke out his guard skills, and ability to be a scorer in different ways. He earned MVP at the first Cali-Live in SoCal.
AJ Harris AJ Harris 6'5" | SF Piedmont | 2023 State CA-N 6’5 G/F of Piedmont HS.
We saw prospects play with their high school team, and club team. Harris was one of NorCal’s most productive this spring and summer. He dropped 50 in one game in a variety of ways with his HS team at an event where the defense doubled and triple teamed him. He helped lead his club team to the finals in SoCal and in Vegas during live periods. He has the tools, and the intangibles.
Logan Steuben Logan Steuben 6'8" | PF Inderkum | 2023 State CA-N 6’8 PF of Inderkum HS.
Steuben has worked his way into being one of NorCal’s top post players. The big body forward can control the boards, and be a force in the paint when he’s locked in. He gives good effort defending his position. He’s improved his scoring in the post area, adding balance to his game.
Eric Brown Eric Brown 6'7" | SF Archbishop Mitty | 2023 State CA-N 6’7 Forward of Archbishop Mitty HS
Brown was learning the system as they say. He gradually figured things out during the season, and was a productive player. It was right around the time before Section 7 when Brown and his club team started to see the forward show his skills as a player. He earned his first offer, and will be a key player for the Monarch this season.
Malachi Miller Malachi Miller 6'3" | SG Central Catholic | 2023 State CA-N 6’3 SG of Central Catholic HS
The solid body guard is as tough as they come. He’s built to handle contact on the court. He uses his body and strength off the dribble to get to his spots, one place is hard to stop paint jumpers. He’s been known to make tough shots with bodies hanging on him. He’s an aggressive defender on the perimeter, can defend in the post and will get rebounds.
Mehki Thomas Mehki Thomas 6'4" | SG Dublin | 2023 State CA-N 6’4 G/F of Dublin HS.
It’s noticeable that Thomas has spent time in the weight room this off season. He’s bigger, stronger, and looks more confident in what he’s doing on the court. He’s getting rebounds, handling the physical play in the paint. He’s converting in transition, and on the perimeter when he attacks the paint with his dribble.
Clay Naffziger Clay Naffziger 6'2" | SG Campolindo | 2023 State CA-N 6’2 SG of Campolindo HS
We got a close up view of the guard who’ll be expected to help carry the load on his reloading high school team this season. If the spring and summer is any indication we’ll see his shot making abilities from long and short distances. This could be a breakout season for the 2023 prospect.
Blake Hudson Blake Hudson 6'2" | PG Dougherty Valley | 2023 State CA-N 6’2 Guard of Dougherty Valley HS.
He’s probably a CG right now, it doesn’t matter as long as he’s on the court. The transfer from St. Mary’s is going to be productive. He has the tools, and scoring prowess to generate buckets in different ways for himself and his teammates. He showed us during high level competition in Las Vegas, he has the toughness, and mentality to be a top notch defender.
Lucas Vogel Lucas Vogel 6'4" | SG Menlo | 2023 State CA-N 6’4 SG of Menlo HS
Vogel has put himself squarely on the radar with his play. Most of what the high IQ guard does is in the flow of the game, which he is a part of. He handles and passes well with the ball, he uses good movements to get himself in position to score without it. He’s a good shooter from mid-range out past the 3pt line.
Isaiah Chandavong Isaiah Chandavong 6'4" | SF Inderkum | 2023 State CA-N 6’4 G/W of Inderkum HS
He brings a versatile skill-set to the court. He can play positions 1-3 in most sets. He handles and sees the court like a guard. He can go on the attack and produce points in transition, and he works well on the perimeter. He can guard multiple positions.
