Continue ReadingThe updated ranking have finally arrived and they continue to be a work in progress. Wasatch Academy has taken over the Top of the rankings as they have brought in a lot of top players that were at the top of their respective states rankings as well. We look forward to tracking them as they become part of what we do here in Utah. Not to diminish anything from the local and home grown players but they are led by one of the top scorers out west. Here is a breakdown of the Top 5.
PHU #1 6’3 RJ Jones RJ Jones 6'3" | SG Wasatch Academy | 2023 State #70 Nation UT || Wasatch Academy ||
Big time playing PG that has recently committed to Kansas State. RJ is going to fit in really well there because K-State really loves guards that can score and so does Wasatch Academy. RJ will make everyone around him better and Wasatch does have some younger players that will play a lot and being around a solid veteran PG will really help them learn and adjust to the level. Look for RJ to really be the catalyst on this team and we will get an early look at him as they play in the Frank Jackson Invitational.
PHU #2 6’3 Jeremiah Johnson Jeremiah Johnson 6'4" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 UT || Wasatch Academy ||
Jeremiah Johnson Jeremiah Johnson 6'4" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 UT is a player that is off the radar in sense because he is coming off of an injury as he was shot a year ago and him getting a second opportunity here at Wasatch Academy might be the best place for him to really ramp up his recruiting. Playing against some high level talent every night will really bolster his stock. The is a guard that can be on the ball or off the ball as he his long and has some great shooting ability, especially off the pick n’ roll. He is another player that will be inserted into the game and automatically be a big time threat.
PHU #3 6’8 Osiris Grady Osiris Grady 6'8" | C Wasatch Academy | 2023 State UT || Wasatch Academy ||
One of the best players in Vegas has made his way to Utah and he will be among some solid players in a tough rotation. Really gives us a glimpse at what Wasatch is going to try and do and that is play an uptempo style as they have a lot of players they can rotate in and out and Osiris is a player that can really run the floor and take the ball coast to coast. Another player who should raise his stock nationally.
PHU #4 6’5 Chudi Anosike Chudi Anosike 6'5" | CG Murray | 2023 State UT || Murray High School ||
Chudi is going to have another chance to make a run at a State Championship in 5A as he is a player that can really take over a game and ill prepared teams will soon feel why he is so highly recruited right now. Would love to see him him stay in-state but he could really help many schools that are looking at him as a scoring guard off the ball that can score inside and use his strength as well as his solid outside shooting.
PHU #5 6’7 Collin Murray-Boyles Collin Murray-Boyles 6'7" | PF Wasatch Academy | 2023 State UT || Wasatch Academy ||
This kid is a player you do not see very often in Utah as he is a PF that can step out and shoot the ball. Against a zone he is deadly because he can basically roam inside and out and be effective. He is a high IQ mover without the ball in his hands. He finds pockets in the defense and finishes above the rim with force. Another player that recentLy committed to South Carolina and he will be a major addition to Wasatch Academy and what they’re trying to do in the NIBC.
