Throughout this past weekend, there were multiple big time performances from our Indiana prospects at all age groups which should come as no surprise with how many talented in-state players participate in the Grit Region. Today, we take a look at some 2024 and 2025 guard evaluations.
Zion Bellamy Zion Bellamy 5'8" | PG Kokomo | 2025 State IN – 5’10 PG – Kokomo – EG10 2025: Bellamy is a shorter yet very quick lead guard. Real shifty and scrappy on both ends. Has a great floater and handles the ball well. On the defensive end, he has quick hands and was constantly poking at the ball causing disruptions. Seemingly knows how to make the smart play.
Caleb Wright Caleb Wright 6'2" | PG Sheridan | 2025 State IN – 6’2 SG – Sheridan – EG10 2025: Wright is a taller guard that has a lot of craftiness to him. Really like what I saw from him in transition because he was able to make a few good plays in that situation. Has a solid pull-up jumper and works well off the ball. Has established himself as a reliable scorer.
Jordan Furney – 6’0 PG – Delta – All Area Basketball Program 2025: Furney is a lead guard/wing with a wide frame and also has some solid quickness to him. What stood out to me was his defense and shot blocking ability. However, a few things that he needs to work on is being a little stronger on his drives and not passing up open looks. With continued work he could really improve his overall game.
Lewis Strange – 6’1 PG/SG – Muncie Central – All Area Basketball Program 2025: Strange is a combo guard with an athletic build. Needs a little more speed to his game but thought he scored well especially from the corner three. Overall just a really nice looking outside jumper. Could be a top shooter in the next couple of seasons.
TJ Davidson TJ Davidson 6'1" | SG Noblesville | 2025 State IN – 6’1 PG – Noblesville – D1 Indiana 2025: Davidson is a quick lead guard that pushed the tempo very well when I watched him. He is on the shorter end but has long arms and legs so has not fully grown into his body yet. Played at a good pace and was crafty around the basket.
Jack McKinsey Jack McKinsey 6'3" | SG Greensburg | 2025 State IN – 6’2 SG – Greensburg – D1 Indiana 2025: McKinsey is a shooting guard that is very athletic and strong for his younger age. Does a lot of the dirty work at times but can score so well off the wing. More of hybrid forward/guard right now. Was excellent on the boards as well.
Allen Briggs Allen Briggs 6'2" | PG Michigan City | 2024 State IN – 6’2 SG – Michigan City – Team GRIII 2024 Elite: Briggs had yet another impressive weekend like he has had all summer. So much length and athletic ability it makes him so hard to stop. He was mostly off the ball here and he did a very good job cutting to the basket and that is where he got most of his points. He was fantastic on the defensive end as well. He is a true stock-riser this summer.
David Cundiff David Cundiff 6'0" | PG Munster | 2024 State IN – 6’0 PG – Munster – Team GRIII 2024 Elite: Cundiff was easily the most dynamic player on this Team GRIII 2024 Elite this past weekend. He is a natural scorer that can score at all three levels. Very smart and creative with the ball. Plays with such a good motor and can push the tempo if you need him to.
Keagan Holder – 6’2 SG – Morgan Township – Team GRIII 2024 Elite: Holder is a player that had a little bit of breakout weekend for me. He is a lanky player that looks to score mostly around the rim and draws contact and shoots very well. Has some underrated bounce and that was shown by a thunderous fastbreak slam in one of the games. Smooth player as well.
