Pangos Sweet 16 Saturday CA Standouts Pt. 1

This past weekend was the start of the July live period and there were several events held throughout Southern California. The MAP Sports Facility played host to Pangos Sweet 16 from July 8-10. The event featured teams from both Northern and Southern California and from out of state as well. I was able to attend the event on Saturday July 9 and I focused on the CA teams. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw. 1. [player_tooltip player_id="1502868" first="Devin" last="Ringer"] - Fairfax 2024/I-Can All-Stars This was my second time seeing Ringer play in the past couple of weeks. He’s a good scoring point guard; he scores when he needs to and he finds the open teammate. He’s a tough cover off the dribble. He can attack the defense and either get into the lane and get an easy two or he can pull-up and hit the midrange. He can shoot it consistently from three-point range too. He can also see the court and kick it out to open shooters. Good on-ball defense. 2. Jaleel Jackson - Bullard 2024/Fresno Elite 16U Jackson has a really good off the dribble game. He lulls the defense to sleep and hits them with a quick first step. He also uses nice hesitation moves to get the defense off balance. Uses strong drives to the rim to get easy buckets and he can finish through traffic. He’s also able to kick the ball back out to open teammates on his drives. Very quick in the open court. 3. [player_tooltip player_id="1502777" first="Seven" last="Bahati"] - Heritage Christian 2024/Belmont Shore Bahati is a scoring wing with a little playmaking to his game. He has good handles and good size for a guard. In the haflcourt he can hit defenders with a nice crossover and get into the lane. He’s able to finish the play at the rim or he can kick it back out. Very athletic, he can extend and finish well and he does a good job attacking the glass with his length. He can knock down the midrange pull-up and he can shoot it well from three-point range. 4. Kamren Williams - St. Paul 2022/I-Can All-Stars Williams has been a player that’s stood out to me for a while now and every time I’ve seen him play I’m always impressed with his tenacity. He’s a solid floor leader; a very good ball-handler who can break defensive pressure. He’s unselfish; he can score but he looks to find the open teammates. Offensively he can shoot it off the dribble and he can score down low over smaller guards. Rebounds well for a shorter guard. Defensively he locks up on ball.
