The Prep Hoops Circuit continues and is making a stop in Phoenix, Arizona on July 2. I am attending looking for talent to come out of the 16 teams in the 17U division. These are the standouts from the afternoon games.

[player_tooltip player_id="992830" first="Maper" last="Maker"] – C – 6’10” – 2025 Dream City Christian (AZ Unity EYBL 2024)

Thon Maker’s cousin is dominating the game on the defensive end. His ability to block every shot imaginable is impressive. His ability to grab every rebound within and without reach is even more impressive. He has work to be done on the offensive end, but I have never seen someone his age be more dominant on the defensive end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1449295" first="Ibrahim" last="Souare"] – PF – 6’8” – 2024 Dream City Christian (AZ Unity EYBL 2024)

On a team full of D1 talent, he stands out as an under-control menace on both sides of the floor. On offense, he puts pressure on the defense every possession, and on the other end, he picks his opponent’s pocket with his length. An all-around talent that does not seem to have a weakness. He does everything and more on the basketball floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1150822" first="Cameron" last="Holmes"] – SG – 6’5” – 2026 Millennium (AZ Unity EYBL 2024)

This kid is pressuring full-court every single possession he is in and he never seems to run out of energy. On the other end of the floor, he is a lengthy slasher whether he is making great cuts backdoor or spacing the floor for open threes. The lefty sharpshooter has a lot of room to grow but his instincts are what will set him apart when he starts to get more attention.

[player_tooltip player_id="1500833" first="Iyon" last="Brown"] – SF/PF – 6’5” – 2023 North (Arizona Firestorm)

This kid is a threat. He outhustled everyone on the court while providing outstanding determination. In the fastbreak he was impossible to stop, dunking on anyone in sight. Didn’t show off too much else on that end of the floor but definitely has room to get better. On the defensive end, he was a presence that hindered the other team from getting to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="937183" first="Dalton" last="Graham"] – SF – 6’7” – 2023 Sunrise Mountain (Arizona Firestorm)

He plays the big on his team, but you can tell he’s fit to be a strong guard at the next level. Seems to have all the tools for success including pressure on the defense, his ability to shoot from the perimeter, and also driving hard to the hoop. But, his most impressive attribute has to be his flourish in the open court and his capacity to find his teammates no matter how small the space.

Jake Bloom – C – 6’4” – 2023 Rancho Bernardo (D1 Southern California)

As an undersized center with a big body, he holds his own against the players that are much taller than him. He has great touch around the rim as well as a stellar mid-range jumper. Especially for his size, he is an intriguing prospect that can defend multiple positions and provide in many ways on the offensive end.

Dalton Runyon – PG – 6’2” – 2023 Rancho Bernardo (D1 Southern California)

Athletic build who is always looking to attack against the best of the best. Witnessed him going up against two 7-footers and finishing with contact. Also has a smooth jumper off the dribble as well as off a catch and shoot. On the defensive end, he provides a steady balance of full-court pressure, along with jumping the passing lanes. He provides a steady balance on the offensive end as both a shooter and playmaker.

Mkayle McCoy – PF/C – 6’6” – 2023 Roosevelt (Splash City West)

Strong and big at the rim that has the great ability to finish through contact. He is a relentless rebounder that puts pressure at the rim on both ends of the floor. As an undersized big, if he learns to put up shots outside the paint, he can be a very valuable asset.
