37p 11r 3a 1b (7/12 3P) vs Annapolis Area Christian -Polk proved why he’s an SEC commit as his signature shooting skill was on display from all 3 levels of the floor in a tight matchup with AACS. Polk got it going early, shooting confidently beyond the arc with even the slightest hint of airspace but showing that he can score inside the 3 point line as well. Polk utilized pump fakes and pivots well to get the defense off balance before hitting touch shots high off the glass on the way to the rim. An improved back to the basket/fade-away game made him difficult to guard as he can turn over either shoulder to score off reverse pivots, spins, or turn-arounds. The microskills of relocating well to space and a quicker release will be crucial in creating space at the next level. Top offensive performance I’ve seen so far in this young season.

The South Carolina commit had a dominant performance in a sizeable win against AACS. He totaled 37 points, 16 coming in the first quarter alone. Immediately started the game with 3 open triples, then started getting busy in the midrange and the block. The defense couldn’t contend with Polk’s size and versatility. He was too strong to contain in the post when he wanted to back down and pivot to a close finish. The closeouts on his jumpshots were almost ineffective as he hit with any type of daylight given, had one possession which he looked down his defender and sunk a deep three from near center court. He collected 10+ rebounds as well, did his job on the glass. Moved the ball well too, finding his teammates nicely and had a couple of nice assists down low leading to a layup. Not much that the defense could do to slow Grant down in this 37-point outburst.

One of the premier shot-makers in the country, Polk’s shooting ability with great positional size has boosted his recruitment to include a bevy of MM-HM interests and offers. Polk’s ability to play the role with New World of an ultra-dependable floor-spacer that can also rebound the basketball and create for others from the wing contrasted nicely with more of an on-ball role with St. Albans during the scholastic live periods as a primary scoring option that gets it done from all 3 levels.

26p 3r 1b (8/11 3P) vs Indy Elite
Arguably the biggest local stock-riser of the summer, Polk continued his hot shooting in 3SSB to space the floor for his New World team. The ability to knock down shots isn’t new but the willingness to take and make open jumpers to move the defense seems like a trait that is here to stay. Mix in his positional size and IQ at the 2/3 position, I’d expect these HM schools to begin pulling the trigger on offers this next week

Continued one of the highest stock-rising summers in the area with a 29p 13r 3a 2s performance in a close loss to Theodore Roosevelt. Polk can contribute on the glass, is a willing passer, but continues to take and make shots at a high clip behind the arc. With his 6’7 size and ability to impact the game without needing touches, he is a valuable commodity as he looks to begin taking visits with some of the new schools involved in his recruitment.

12p 5r 1s 1b vs Thrill
One of the bigger stockrisers in the area during the spring sessions of AAU, Polk is knocking down perimeter shots at a ridiculous clip while still providing the rebounding and mixing in better defense on and off the ball. A floor-spacing wing for this New World team, he finished 4/6 from beyond the arc and hit 3 in a row to bring NW back into the game against a deep Thrill team. Fully expect some of these low-mid major schools to pull the trigger on an offer during the upcoming HS live periods.

A name that we have been tracking for awhile popped onto many scout’s radars after an explosive shooting performance this weekend playing with New World. Hitting 6 threes in one game alone, Polk made his presence known as a C+S threat that can knock down open and contested looks without needing plays run for him and in the flow of the game. With good positional size and improving lateral footspeed, Polk projects well as a big shooter that can also mix it up on the glass and score in the paint
