Washington is a sizeable 6-foot-4 shooting guard prospect out of Davidson Day School who continues to rise in the NCISAA ranks and in the 2026 rankings in North Carolina. They came up short in the NCISAA 3A State Semifinals falling to eventual champion, Greensboro Day, but they’ll certainly be back if Washington continues to develop. He’s a strong-framed shooting presence who can attack off the bounce as a playmaker and scorer and act as an option off the catch. He’s quietly emerging as a prospect for DI and DII programs to get to know given what he can do in the halfcourt. He’s set to suit up with Team United on the EYBL stage this spring/summer.

headlines my list of 2026 prospects from the Upper State. He had a nice performance in a win over Stratford Friday Afternoon, putting up 20 Points and 5 Rebounds. He had a bit of a slow start from the perimeter, but did not lose confidence and continued to shoot it. Those same shots started to fall as the game went on, and he hit his final 4 attempts from behind the arc. Washington is not overly flashy from a skill or athleticism standpoint, but he is a great scorer who can create for himself or spot up on the wings. Because of his frame and some of the Yellow Jackets personnel, AJ will often guard the other team’s big man and he held his own there in the matchup I saw this weekend.

The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets graduated a strong group of Seniors after last season, so A.J. became “the guy” this season. He led the team in scoring, at 16.4 Points Per Game, and rebounding, at 4.7 Rebounds Per Game. His points average increased by over 6 points between his Freshman and Sophomore campaigns. Although it was by a slim margin, he also increased his 2-point and 3-point shooting percentages, which doesn’t always happen when your usage rate climbs the way Washington’s did this year. He shot 44% on twos and 36% on threes with over 40 makes from behind the arc. Above all, A.J. was named to the SCBCA 5A All-State team, a rare accomplishment for a Sophomore, putting him in prestigious company.

Washington and Raymon should have plenty of battles in the years to come being in each other’s backyard in the Upstate. A.J. plays the game at a good space and really recognizes defenses along the way.
A.J. doesn’t look to force shots or passes while on the floor. He was able to connect on some perimeter jumpers here today.
