Prep Hoops Virginia recently updated its 2023 rankings. Here is a closer look at some of the newcomers.

#34 | [player_tooltip player_id="1362690" first="Thomas" last="Youngkin"] | St. Christopher’s

Youngkin burst onto the scene last season for Georgetown Prep. He is a blue-collar wing who does a bit of everything well. Word has it that he has transferred to St. Christopher’s. Expect Youngkin to be one of the more impactful newcomers in the 804 next season.

#45 | [player_tooltip player_id="1483002" first="Paul" last="Anderson"] | South County

Anderson has first-team all-region written all over him. He is a lockdown defender who has improved offensively. Look for Anderson to guard the opposing team’s best perimeter player and put the ball in the hole with regularity.

#63 | [player_tooltip player_id="957028" first="Bryson" last="Wilson"] | SSSAS

Wilson will feature on a new-look Saints team and figures to be an important factor in their success. He is a top-tier athlete with dynamic playmaking ability.

#68 | [player_tooltip player_id="1483019" first="Jamison" last="Lynam"] | South County

Lynam was one of our favorite finds from the past season. He is quick like a cat and can put the ball in the hole at a high clip. Look for Lynam to be one of the Stallions’ go-to-guys throughout his senior campaign.

#78 | [player_tooltip player_id="1483027" first="Sam" last="Whitehead"] | Stone Bridge

Whitehead gets buckets with relative ease. He is well-conditioned and proficient at scoring from all three levels. Don’t be surprised to see him near the top of the local scoring leaderboard in the winter.

#82 | [player_tooltip player_id="1483016" first="DJ" last="Kennard"] | Falls Church

Kennard is set to take a step forward after popping on our radar as a junior. He is a versatile perimeter player who has strong defensive potential. Kennard is a safe bet to improve from his status as an all-district second-teamer.

#90 | [player_tooltip player_id="1483005" first="Cole" last="Cosby"] | SSSAS

Cosby produces when given opportunities. He makes shots and all types of hustle plays that help his team win games. Cosby projects as a consistent difference-maker for the Saints.

#91 | [player_tooltip player_id="1483055" first="Amir" last="Crawford"] | Woodberry Forest

Crawford has established a reputation as one of the better perimeter defenders in the state. He takes away air space on the ball with relative ease and guards a couple of different positions. Crawford’s emergence has been a key element to his team’s success.
