2023 Top Newcomers

<p>The 2023 rankings update is finally out with 280 players making up the new rankings. With every update, there are new players added and the new update is nothing new. Here are the top newcomers in the 2023 class.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1456811" first="Tyler" last="Tejada"], 6’7 SF Teaneck</strong></p> <p>Tejada has had a breakout spring, which makes him the highest newcomer in the class at 14. The 6’7 forward is comfortable playing on the perimeter as he has a smooth release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Tejada can also put the ball on the floor and finish strong above the rim. He uses his handle to create space for himself and is an underrated passer. Tejada is a skilled forward prospect who makes plays with the ball in his hands and will be one to watch this summer.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1013041" first="David" last="Luberoff"], 6’8 PF Blair Academy</strong></p> <p>Luberoff is set to join the Buccaneers’ frontcourt and has the potential to have a big impact in 2022-23. The 6’8 forward has a nice touch around the basket and does not mind getting physical in the post. Luberoff has a solid face-up game as he can put the ball on the floor and hit open jumpers from behind the arc. He rips down rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his length to swat shots on the defensive end. Luberoff is a stretch-four prospect who has the potential to have a big summer.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1456812" first="Cyril" last="Martynov"], 6’10 PF Lawrenceville</strong></p> <p>Martynov is an intriguing forward prospect as he can affect the game in a number of ways. The 6’10 forward can put the ball on the floor and finish strong around the basket. Martynov is good in the pick and roll game as he can hit the jumper in pick and pop or roll hard to the basket for the layup. He influences shots on the defensive end with his size and is a strong rebounder. Martynov is a forward with the ability to have a breakout summer in 2022.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1430120" first="Isaiah" last="Fuller"], 5’11 PG Roselle</strong></p> <p>Fuller is the highest newly ranked guard at 45 and could make some noise with a good summer. The 5’11 guard is lightning quick with the ball in his hands as he uses his speed to create opportunities for himself in transition. Fuller has a tight handle, which he uses to blow by his defender and finish around the basket. He has a nice release on his jumper and can set his teammates up in the halfcourt. Fuller had five 20-point games in his junior campaign and should have more in the 2022-23 season.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1034378" first="Nicholas" last="(Niko) Barnes"], 6’4 CG Compass Prep</strong></p> <p>Barnes has made plays this spring with Black Bear North Maine, which should carry over into the summer. The 6’4 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he uses his size to finish through contact around the rim. Barnes has a nice touch in the mid-range and is a solid passer. He is a good rebounder for a guard and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor.
