There is a short little lull here in the grassroots basketball scene with not nearly as many tournaments taking place this coming weekend. The following weekend, which is Memorial Day weekend, things will heat back up featuring Nike EYBL Session III in Louisville, Kentucky. Prep Hoops Indiana will have boots on the ground for that event. With a little bit of down time this seemed like the perfect opportunity to highlight some of the top teams that our staff has seen this spring so far. These power rankings will feature the top five 17u programs in the state of Indiana RIGHT NOW. These will be updated every few weeks moving forward. If you missed the top five 15u release you can click here to go back to check them out. For the 16u power rankings you can click here. Now, let's dive into the 17u class.

1. George Hill All Indy

No shoe circuit, no problem. George Hill All Indy has beaten some of the best teams on each circuit and has shown they just might be the most talented team in the state of Indiana. 6'11" forward [player_tooltip player_id="868219" first="Xavier" last="Booker"] (Cathedral H.S. 2023) has become one of the most sought after prospects in the country this spring. Meanwhile, 6'5" wing [player_tooltip player_id="1391463" first="Garwey" last="Dual"] (Carmel H.S. 2023) has blown up his recruitment as much as any prospect in the country. In the backcourt, underrated guards [player_tooltip player_id="868243" first="Keyon" last="Garrett-Miller"] (Southport H.S. 2023) and [player_tooltip player_id="1273713" first="Sheridan" last="Sharp"] (Ben Davis H.S. 2023) have been excellent.

2. Indiana Elite

High school teammates [player_tooltip player_id="868255" first="Logan" last="Imes"] (Zionsville H.S. 2023) and [player_tooltip player_id="868244" first="Nick" last="Richart"] (Zionsville H.S. 2023) are among the leaders of this Indiana Elite team that has competed at a high level on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. [player_tooltip player_id="868224" first="JaQualon" last="Roberts"] (Bloomington H.S. North 2023) has solidified himself as a top prospect in the class while [player_tooltip player_id="868252" first="Jaron" last="Tibbs"] (Cathedral H.S. 2023) and [player_tooltip player_id="868251" first="Jake" last="Davis"] (Cathedral H.S. 2023) continue to be some of the best role players you'll find anywhere. Balanced team with a lot of firepower.

3. Indy Heat

When playing at full strength, Indy Heat has more talent than any team in the state. However, some roster rotation over the spring has kept all of their best players from playing at the same time very often. They lost a close one to Indiana Elite at the Run N Slam. [player_tooltip player_id="939058" first="Jeremy" last="Fears"] (La Lumiere 2023) continues to be one of the most explosive guards in the country while the addition of [player_tooltip player_id="932764" first="Kaleb" last="Glenn"] (La Lumiere 2023) and Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn (Montverde Academy) make up one of the best backcourts in all of AAU. This team put together a 4-0 weekend in Indy during Nike EYBL Session II.

4. Team GRIII Elite

This has been one of the most consistent teams this spring and is clearly one of the most talented on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Team GRIII picked up [player_tooltip player_id="935722" first="Mason" last="Jones"] (Valparaiso H.S. 2023) early in the spring to add to a talented group on the wing next to [player_tooltip player_id="868237" first="A.J." last="Lux"] (Crown Point H.S. 2023) and [player_tooltip player_id="868239" first="Cooper" last="Farrall"] (Culver Academy 2023). A couple of the state's top unsigned seniors in [player_tooltip player_id="870262" first="Cayden" last="Vasko"] (Bosco Institute 2022) and [player_tooltip player_id="870216" first="Landen" last="Babusiak"] (Bosco Institute 2022) also run with Team GRIII. The consistent X-Factor that should see his recruitment continue to take off is 6'5" wing/forward [player_tooltip player_id="814532" first="Brandon" last="Trilli"] (Munster H.S. 2023).

5. Kyle Guy Elite Black

One of the most fun parts of watching this team play is that you can tell they've spent a lot of time together. Previously under the Grassroots Indiana umbrella, this group came over to Kyle Guy Elite and is loaded with talent. In the backcourt, prospects like [player_tooltip player_id="1049171" first="Dylan" last="Moles"] (Greenfield Central H.S. 2023), [player_tooltip player_id="868263" first="Isaac" last="Higgs"] (Evansville Reitz H.S. 2023), and [player_tooltip player_id="868225" first="Spencer" last="White"] (Carmel H.S. 2023) both have college offers and continue to generate more interest. [player_tooltip player_id="1273049" first="Landon" last="Biegel"] (Oak Hill H.S. 2023) provides a bunch of shooting on the wing and versatile forwards [player_tooltip player_id="868230" first="Preston" last="Roberts"] (Noblesville H.S. 2023), [player_tooltip player_id="1049168" first="Jesse" last="Faires"] (Ben Davis H.S. 2023) and [player_tooltip player_id="1160680" first="Gavin" last="Welch"] (New Castle H.S. 2023) have had strong springs. The big man in the middle is 6'10" [player_tooltip player_id="1049165" first="Jacob" last="Cherry"] (Eastern Pekin H.S. 2023) who has a ton of upside.

Honorable Mention: 94 Feet Elite, Indy Heat Red, Indiana Ice, 5Star, Indiana Elite Team Indiana
