Vanvoorhis is a leader for the Papermakers because he’s able to read and react from any spot, with or without the ball. This allows him to make plays from any spot on the floor, offense or defense, and it has shown up early on with his facilitating and ability to make big stops on the defensive end.

Vanvoorhis didn’t do a ton of scoring at the pop-up, he did show off some range from 3-point and found some space at the rim at times, but his biggest contributions came from making plays for others and showing no quit defensively. He’s a slick passer who can make quick decisions while attacking, is very crafty passing on the go, and understands the importance of shifting the defense with his passing to set up those “hockey-assists.” The best takeaway from his performance was his ability to recover after making mistakes. Whether it was a turnover or missed shot, he was ready to make the next play and didn’t allow himself to lag behind or dwell on mistakes.

This is a guy who constantly impresses me every time I watch him play. He has such a good feel for the game, is able to play fast, get teammates involved, score inside and out, and get it done on the defensive end too. He might get overlooked for this award purely because his numbers won’t be as big, but he is set to take on a much larger role with Beckett Currie leaving Camas, and Camas could be a sneaky pick to make a run this coming March.

He was a standout playmaker on both ends who got his teammates involved, played with pace in every situation, and was opportunistic defensively. Showed good awareness from the point to shift defenses with his penetration and anticipate his options to pick out the right pass. Really had control of the team out there and injected a lot of energy into his teammates with his play.

A fast, twitchy guard who consistently created space for others by drawing extra defenders into the paint with his ability to drive the lanes. One of the top playmakers on the day, utilized hesitations again and again to set up his speed into gaps, also was able to elevate the pace every time he touched the rock.

Jace is a quick guard who handles the ball at a high level and can score from all three levels. He has been a fantastic 1-2 combo with Beckett Currie but with Currie not at Camas anymore, Jace is stepping into a huge role. Vanvoorhis will be one of the main guards and will have the ball in his hands often. He runs the pick and roll vey smoothly with

Vanvoorhis is a guy you can count on to break down his man and get to the rim, and this weekend he showed off some excellent passing off those drives. He was quick to recognize help defenders stepping up and had several dump-offs and slick passes in tight spaces for assists. He played well in the pick and roll or pick and pop to find his versatile bigs, and stayed ready to attack himself, putting pressure on defenses in multiple ways.
