For the last update to the 2022 rankings, we tried to make sure the most deserving players were added. There were a number or really good players left to add, including some all-state caliber seniors who had escaped our notice until recently.

Here are a few of the top players included in the final rankings of the 2022 class:

60 [player_tooltip player_id="1446030" first="Jack" last="Duarte"], 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, Collegiate:

There weren’t a lot of statistics available about Duarte this season, and he wasn’t someone Prep Hoops saw during the last couple of summers. But he was highly decorated following his senior campaign, earning first team 3A from KSHSAA and Sports in Kansas. He’s a big multi-sport athlete who can knock down the three and is physical enough to play inside and out. For that, we slotted him as the #15 small forward, a loaded position in this class.

131 [player_tooltip player_id="1446031" first="Derek" last="Keith"], 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, Hill City:

Keith was part of a one-two punch for Hill City with another good forward, [player_tooltip player_id="1378399" first="Trent" last="Long"]. Keith picked up second team honors in 2A from Sports in Kansas for racking up 17 points and 7 boards a game for a good Hill City team.

132 [player_tooltip player_id="1446038" first="Sid" last="Duplessis"], 5-foot-10 guard, 2022, Salina Central:

A transfer from out of state that made an impact in his one season in Kansas, Duplessis earned honorable mention recognition, as well as all-league honors from the AV-CTL Div. 2. He is a shifty guard who can really shoot it. He averaged 18 points in his one season in Kansas.

140 [player_tooltip player_id="1446040" first="Derek" last="Hoelting"], 6-foot guard, 2022, Olpe:

Prep Hoops likes to reward winners, and there were few who won more that Hoelting. Leading Olpe to back-to-back titles, Hoelting saved his best for last. In the 1A DI championship, he lit up South Gray for 30 points on 11-17 shooting and grabbed 10 boards. He scored 63 points in the three state games and earned first team 1A DI for his hard-nosed, versatile play.

152 [player_tooltip player_id="1446055" first="Kevin" last="Brown"], 6-foot-1 center, 2022, Wichita Northwest:

We added a couple of centers to the final list, and Brown joins the list as one of the more unique players around. Though just 6-foot-1, he was an extremely effective player in the paint for one of the state’s best teams. He was the epitome of a dirty-work player, making a living off rebounds, putbacks and defense. The senior averaged 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds without ever being the focal point of his team. He was a good passer too, dishing out 2 assists per game and making really effective outlet passes.

161 [player_tooltip player_id="1446056" first="Larry" last="Graham"], 6-foot combo guard, 2022, Wichita West (pictured):

If Brown is a unique player, then Graham is a fascinating one. The guy has an unbelievable handle and the ability to create and get shots off in every situation. He is a pure scorer, getting into the lane to draw fouls when he isn’t shooting from every spot and from every angle. He is a fierce competitor who laid it on the line for West. He averaged 13.5 points as a senior.

Other seniors added to the 2022 rankings:

139 [player_tooltip player_id="1446039" first="Chance" last="Hilger"], 6-foot guard, 2022, Norwich

141 [player_tooltip player_id="1446041" first="Brent" last="Penner"], 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, South Gray

142 [player_tooltip player_id="1446051" first="Keegan" last="Dimler"], 6-foot-2 forward, 2022, Hanover

143 [player_tooltip player_id="1446052" first="Nolan" last="Juenemann"], 6-foot-7 center, 2022 Norton

144 [player_tooltip player_id="1446053" first="Toby" last="Miller"], 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, Lyndon

145 [player_tooltip player_id="1446054" first="Jalen" last="VanBecelaere"], 5-foot-11 guard, 2022, Colgan

146 [player_tooltip player_id="1300793" first="Trent" last="Duffey"] 6-foot-2 guard, 2022, Hayden
