Recently several of the 2022 prospects that we have been scouting and writing about for two years announced which program they will play for at the next level. So, we thought we would take a minute to acknowledge the dedication and skills that led to this life changing achievement for these ballers.
Below is a rundown of seven Class of 2022 prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania who recently committed to play college ball.

Baron
6'2" | CG
Pope John Paul II | 2022
State
PA
– 6’2” / Senior / Pope John Paul II / NJ Shoreshots / Combo Guard: Committed to Lynn university (DII in FL). This multi-talented guard was the Pioneer Athletic Conference’s leading scorer at 17.8 ppg. and scored a career high 37 points this season. He was second in the conference in made threes with 43. Baron also scores at the rim as well as the mid-range and drains free throws at a high clip. This scoring lead guard owns excellent court vision and distribution skills too. After the 2021-22 season Baron was a 1st Team All-PAC as well as 1st Team All-Area selection
Quin Berger Quin Berger 6'2" | CG Westtown School | 2022 State PA – 6’3’’ / Westtown School / NJ Shoreshots / Combo Guard: Committed to Saint Joe’s University…This is a tremendous picked up for SJU as Berger’s recruiting stock experienced an enormous surge this past winter. From early January to the end of the state tournament, Berger (16 ppg.) was simply amazing. Included in that impressive span of play was a 39-point effort vs. ANC as well as six other games in which he scored 20 or more points. His ability to score at all three levels will make him a star at the next level. Berger is a 1,000-point scorer with a high basketball IQ who won multiple PAISAA state titles at Westtown.
Johnny Coppolino – 6’2” / Post Grad / Phelps School / Combo Guard: Committed to Emory University (DIII)…The former 1st Team All Big North Conference selection out of Tenafly High School (NJ), used a pandemic induced post graduate year at Phelps to show he possesses one of the best mid-range games in the region. During the 2021-22 season Coppolino was nearly automatic from deep — 40%+ on triples. A consistent team first mentality has built Coppolino a reputation as a player who will do anything to help his squad win.
Sean “SJ” Hutchinson – 6’3” / Phelps School / Philly Pride National / Wing: Committed to Wheeling University (DII in WV)…In 2021-22 this lefty presented significant match-up issues for opponents. Hutchinson is tall and physical enough that he can shoot the mid-range jumper off the dribble or a 3-pointer over smaller guards. However, using a traditional big to guard Hutchinson will not work either, as he possesses the ball handling skills and foot speed to blow by that larger defender. This past season Hutchinson averaged 15 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game.

David Kearney David Kearney 6'5" | SF Haverford School | 2022 State PA – 6’5” / Haverford School / East Coast Power / Small Forward: Committed to McDaniel College (DIII in MD)…This long and athletic forward with a solid 3-point stroke was the breakout star of the 2021-22 Inter-Ac season. Kearney has an extensive mid-range skill set and can operate in transition as a ball handler or lane filler. He averaged 14.8 points (19 ppg. in Inter-Ac play) and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field. He scored a season high 29 (2 threes) against Episcopal Academy. We like him in a stretch-4 role for McDaniel.
Ethan Pires – 6’6” / Pennington School (NJ) / SK Elite / Wing: Committed to Millersville University (DII in PA). Pires is a lefty who is adept at hitting threes as well as scoring off the dribble with either hand. Pires averaged 12.4 ppg. this season and scored a personal best 26 points vs. Hun School. Pires is a 2022 prospect who took advantage of this spring’s grassroots events. He played at an elevated level at two events earlier this month and grabbed the attention of some college coaches. Included in that recent stretch of play was a 28-point performance (8 made threes) at the Big Shots Mid Atlantic Live tourney (Hampton, VA). He is an underrated rim protector as well.
Masud Stewart Masud Stewart 6'0" | PG Neumann-Goretti | 2022 State PA – 6’0” / Senior / Neumann-Goretti / We R1 / Combo Guard: Committed to Binghamton University. In 2021-22 Stewart averaged 11.4 points and 3 rebounds per contest while shooting 35% from three as he helped lead NG to the 4A state championship. Stewart has “logo range’ on his jumper and posted numerous games where he drained 5 or more triples. The stroke on his deep 3PAs is so pure, it never appears forced. Stewart owns enough handles to slide over to the point guard spot.
