The list of prospects in the updated class of 2023 rankings is full of talented players. Some are new and some have been there for a while. Either way, a type of prospect that college coaches will want to be very aware of are the ’sleepers’. These athletes may not be household names or get the statewide recognition that the guys at the top get, but make no mistake, they have the talent to play college basketball someday.

SLEEPERS IN THE 2023 MICHIGAN PROSPECT RANKINGS

[player_tooltip player_id="985669" first="Damaryon" last="Fishburn"] (CG, Taylor Trillium)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #24

This young man should be getting offers, it’s that simple. He has good positional strength and length and he know how to use it. Fishburn is a true 3 level scorer that can manufacture buckets from almost anywhere on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="1130662" first="Sam" last="Lewis"] (SF, Milford)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #60

Lewis has the feel of a next level wing. He plays with a high basketball IQ and can be counted on to make the right play. Lewis has a nice looking stroke and carries 3 point range. He looks smooth and confident in his movement.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076006" first="Carter" last="Diedrich"] (C, Ida)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #85

Diedrich has elite level potential as a post player. I’ve seen him go head to head with some of the best in the state and he’s made me a firm believer in what he can become as a basketball player. College coaches always seem to be looking for post help, so this sis someone to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id="986892" first="Shawn" last="Foreman"] (PG, Comstock Park)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #82

He’s not the tallest guard, but that’s ok, because he can play through and around the defense. Foreman sees the floor incredibly well and he’s one of the more creative and best overall passers in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="986253" first="Mike" last="Lividini"] (PG, Southfield Christian)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #98

He’s oh so close to not being a sleeper anymore after helping to put Southfield Christian back among the best this past high school season. He’s a terrific floor general and leader that will get the ball to where it needs to go. If the defense plays off of him, Lividini can make them pay.

[player_tooltip player_id="1130946" first="Brennan" last="McKenzie"] (PG, Adrian)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #143

McKenzie is an absolute sponge for information and the kind of young man that a coach wants to teach. He’s a quiet leader that can get his teammates to follow his lead. McKenzie can handle the ball and is rapidly improving as a scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1300902" first="Christian" last="Zielinski"] (SF, Homeschooled)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #159

I first saw Zielinski at a Flight Hankamp Open Run in the fall, and I can away more than impressed. He’s athletic enough to run on the wing and get out in transition, but strong enough to bang with bigger post players. He’s the type of player that can fit in any system and fill a variety of roles.

[player_tooltip player_id="1212751" first="Marcus" last="Ransom"] (F, Battle Creek Lakeview)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #207

Ransom has a ton of upside and could blossom into a terrific player at the next level. He’s a solid defender that can guard multiple positions and isn’t intimidated by any matchup. He’s a bouncy forward that has a knack for making plays.
