WCE Hoop Review: Day Two

<p>The first Live period went off with lots of NorCal teams, and prospects landing in SoCal for the SoCal Hoop Review Event at the Momentous Sports Center. Prep Hoops was there to evaluate NorCal Players with their teams. We made every attempt to see as many players as possible. We may have missed a few standouts this time around, but rest assured we’ll continue the effort to evaluate new and standout prospects from NorCal.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1384454" first="David" last="Balogun"] 6’5 PF 2025 of NorCal Prep 15U Gold (Cornerstone Christian HS)</strong></em></p> <p>He was quite active on day 2 going after rebounds, and blocks in the paint. He plays hard most of the time, his jump hook was going, he can use his dribble to get into the paint, and will shoot a 3 if he’s open. With this age group he can enforce some things in the paint using his body to bump a bit. He goes straight up with two hands to effects shots.</p> <p><em><strong>Jace Anderson 6’6 SF 2024 of Rose City Ballers 16U Select</strong></em></p> <p>He had good fundamentals playing both inside and outside on Saturday. At 6’6 he showed he could handle the ball on the perimeter. He used his dribble to get into the paint for finishes at the rim, and for jumpers in the paint. He has good length and can finish with either hand around the basket. He closes out well and will help rebounding.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1380765" first="Owen" last="Ubaldo"] 6’3 CG 2023 of Team Sacramento/Pharaohs 17’s Black (Jesuit HS)</strong></em></p> <p>He’s a bit of a combo guard who had good all around play. He was productive on the offensive side of the ball. He’s got some speed, and shiftiness to create his own shot opportunities on the perimeter. He’s a bit thin but handled the contact on the drive, he makes free throws. He handled ball pressure bringing the ball up court, and he knocked down a couple of corner 3’s on the catch. </p> <p><em><strong>Mark Lavrenov 6’7 PF 2025 West Coast Elite 15U (Rocklin HS)</strong></em></p> <p>It was our first look at Lavrenov. The 6’7 power forward had good activity around the basket. At this level he has the size and length to have impact in the paint. He crashed the offensive boards, keeping the ball live for himself and teammates, eventually ending up with put backs, and tip ins. He has a turn around jumper, and is strong going up off two for finishes. He was good switching on defense. He’s on the Wright’s Watch list.</p> <p><em><strong>Koleton Fenton 6’5 PF 2024 of NBBA 16U Showcase (Miramonte HS)</strong></em></p> <p>Fenton was a force inside, and showed he can knock down an occasional 3ptr in the 16U group on Saturday. He had strong inside play using good footwork, and both hands to effectively finish around the basket. He sets hard to get around screens for cutters, and shooters. When double teamed on the low block, his good passing found open shooters on the perimeter, and cutters to the basket. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
