The DMV Spring Warm Up took place at Alexandria City High School this past weekend, and it was a great event to get to know some of the top teams in the mid-atlantic and had some big time matchups as well.

We will take a look at the top performers from each age group, starting with part two of the 17U group.

If you’d like to watch the event, all of the games were streamed and are available for playback on the CBG Live Network.

[player_tooltip player_id="1119147" first="Elmarko" last="Jackson"] | 6’3” PG | We R 1 2023

Jackson broke out onto the national scene last summer with We R 1 playing on their 17U team, and looking at him at the event it looks like he’s improved in the right areas as a shooter and a true PG to take yet another leap this summer. At 6’3” he’s a strong and super dynamic point guard who has great athleticism around the rim and in the open floor, he shot the ball well from deep and got to spots and made plays off the bounce and he showed huge potential on the defensive end. He’s going to be one of the top PGs on the UAA Circuit and should have a big summer ahead of him.

Thomas Haugh | 6’7” PF | We R 1 2023

I first saw Haugh with Perkiomen this season where he played up on the post grad team, and he was just a part of their talented team but showed with this We R 1 group that he could be one of the top sleepers in UAA this summer. The 6’7” forward is the perfect type of stretch four man as he can really shoot it from deep and is comfortable on the perimeter offensively, but he’s also very athletic as a finisher and a shot blocker in the paint. He has a good IQ and plays with a good motor, he makes great energy plays and he’s a walking mismatch when he’s on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1165524" first="Connor" last="Dubsky"] | 6’3” WG | Prospect U 2023

Dubsky had a breakout junior season at St. Stephen’s St. Agnes and he showed in the first AAU session that he has a chance to turn heads with his ability to score the basketball. He has really improved in his ability to create space off the bounce and knock down tough shots from multiple levels, and he did it in a lot of different ways too. At 6’3” he can stick it from deep off the catch, he has good footwork on step backs and midrange fades and he has good balance to be able to contort his body away from defenders and make tough shots.

David Gyasi | 6’6” PF | DMV Stags 2023

Gyasi was very good for a deep Stags team that should be able to compete against anyone on the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer, and the 6’6” forward will be a very important piece for them. At 6’6” he has a very strong frame and knows how to create space, he’s mobile and runs the floor well and has good hands to catch and finish, he plays with a good motor and physicality and he has soft touch out to the midrange as well.

Gabriel Jones | 6’2” WG | District Basketball Club 2023

Jones is coming off of a breakout junior season with Colonial Forge and he’ll turn a lot of heads with coaches this summer with his ability to make shots and score it in different ways. The 6’2” two guard can flat out stroke it from deep with good range and a quick release, he is strong with the ball attacking downhill and finishing through contact and he’s a good athlete who can create in isolation situations and score it in bunches.

[player_tooltip player_id="957035" first="Chris" last="Russell"] | 6’6” F | District Basketball Club 2023

Russell showed a lot in the first AAU session with DBC, as the 6’6” forward is a versatile player who can play and guard multiple positions and can impact the game in a number of different ways. At 6’6” he has long arms and a good frame that makes him able to defend and rebound in the paint, he can run the floor and is a good finisher and he showed the ability to be a mismatch guy who can step out and play on the perimeter or make plays in the paint as well.
