I recently had the opportunity to watch the Melba Mustangs win the 2A championship in the Idaho dairy shoot out state championships. Every player on the floor was a scoring threat, with incredible skills and team work.

The team was led by 6’2" Sr. [player_tooltip player_id="969749" first="Joe" last="Reiber"], who averaged 15.0 ppg, 9.3 rpg, and 3 spg. His quickness and athleticism allowed him to get to the basket at any time. Joe was a great player on varsity for all four years.

6’4" So. [player_tooltip player_id="1171622" first="Cache" last="Beus"], was the work horse for the team, that gave his team 110% every minute he was on the floor. He was probably the most energetic player in the tournament , that averaged almost 10.0 rebounds per game. His confidence and size allow him to crash the boards, and finish around the rim.

6’1" Jr. [player_tooltip player_id="1170719" first="Braden" last="Volkers"] , was the pure shooter on the team, shooting 43.2 % from the 3. He sees the floor well, and can also finish at the rim. Braden average 12.7 ppg in the tournament, and is a great passer as well.

6’1" So. Tucker Lowber was the 6th man off the bench, but was the 2nd leading scoring on the team, for the State tournament, where he averaged 11.0 ppg. Tucker is athletic, and is another energetic and exciting player to watch.

6’1" Sr Dillion Stosich was another player that gave 110%, and was one of the best defenders on the floor, that helped lead to his team to a state championship.

5’11" Sr Alfredo Orozco was by far the best defender on the team, that had the ability to defend the opposing teams best offensive player, and shut them down.

Head Coach Spencer Trappett, said the Melba Mustangs success to a great season and a state championship this year, was due to players putting in the time outside of the off season, and being committed to the game and team.
