2022 Myles McDuffie goes out on top

It was Lake Clifton who was crowned the Class 1A state champion earlier this month as they put the cherry on top of a dominant season. As usual, head coach Herman Harried had a well-oiled machine with players who willingly succeeded their roles. 2022 guard Myles McDuffiee Myles McDuffiee 6'2" | PG Reach Partnership | 2022 MD was a key ingredient to their success as he provided a presence on both ends. As Baltimore guard typically do, McDuffie has a knack for getting to the rim and finishing through contact. He brings his hardhat to the defensive end and has the ability to defend either guard position effectively.

"I’m a strong attacker," McDuffie told Prep Hoops. "Since coming in to play with Coach Tree, he has taught me to slow down in order to see all of my options. It also helps me get to the basket in different ways. I’m not a one-dimensional player. I know that can slow down and hit the shot if I need to."

McDuffie thrived in Lake Clifton’s trap defensive schemes where he would make things difficult as the trapper or make sound reads acting as a safety on the football field in passing lanes. Once his team secured the ball, it was off to the races and that’s where McDuffie can showcase his athleticism with his above-the-rim finishes. At 6-foot-2, he has good size for a combo guard and a body that can absorb contact on either end when going up against bigger, stronger players.

"I’d like to improve my shooting before the next level. I feel like I have my shot down, I just need to get more reps up and I have to get it better. I’m also concentrating on my poise. I’ve learned that since coming here and playing under Coach Tree."

Coach Tree always demands that his player not only are buttoned-up on the floor, but also in the classroom. McDuffie has a cumulative GPA of 3.7 and remains available. He has heard from High Point and Northeastern as of late, but still does not have any offers. He remains open as he and his family are exploring the prep school route as well, but I believe McDuffie could be a great find for a scholarship spot at a Division II program. With the transfer portal on overload, it gives the good Division II programs an opportunity and for McDuffie, it would be a chance to come in and play respectable minutes as a freshman.
