PVI got super physical with Christian Gurdak Christian Gurdak 6'9" | C Gonzaga | 2025 State #156 Nation MD for a lot of this game, and I think he handled it well. Last year in the final, Gonzaga ran a lot of their stuff through him, and he had a great game. PVI dealt with him better in the sense of him being a guy Gonzaga dumped the ball down to and got a bucket, but Christian was still a major factor. Christian was outstanding on the offensive glass, clearing people out and getting easy buckets. He had a nice spin early to get an easy bucket, and you could see the attention he was getting from his former team. Christian was great on defense, and if you are a big man who isn’t particularly athletic, Christian is a guy to emulate some things after. He has a high IQ, and he is always in the right spot defensively. He has great hands and does a terrific job contesting shots. He finished with 12 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 blocks.

Averaging 11 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, Gurdak was a consistent and efficient (64.7% FG) presence in the paint and on the glass for Team Takeover . The recent Virginia Tech commit demonstrated his smooth post footwork, ability to finish with both hands and in traffic.

-The physically-imposing big had his way in a matchup with some high-level forwards for JM, turning in another efficient, productive performance in the paint highlighted with a nice runner off glass that put Gonzaga ahead for good down the stretch of a 3-point win. Gurdak reads the defense well before catching the ball and getting into his move, doing a good job of avoiding double teams or passing out of them without turning it over. Defensively he stays down on shot fakes and seals possessions off with big rebounds in traffic while communicating on ball screens at a much higher level.

Former PVI Panther Christian Gurdak Christian Gurdak 6'9" | C Gonzaga | 2025 State #156 Nation MD had an excellent showing in the final. Without Pat Ngongba, I felt like Gonzaga’s best path to victory would be Christian having a big game dominating with his size. Christian missed a couple of shots he usually makes around the rim, but he was a monster on the offensive glass, getting a couple of putbacks. Off of a few PVI doubles, Christian made some great passes. Christian finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists.
