Here are the Top One-and-Done Performances from 6A-3A this past week:
Brett Sarwinski Brett Sarwinski 5'10" | PG Galena | 2022 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, 2022, Galena:
Sarwinski capped a great career – he’s Galena’s all-time leading scorer – with 32 points in the double-overtime heart-breaker against TMP. He knocked down 10-22 shots and 7-10 from the line. The senior guard dropped 5-8 from deep in a memorable last game befitting his tenacious style.
Trey Moala Trey Moala 6'7" | PF Paola | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-6 forward, 2022, Paola:
Like Sarwinski, Moala did everything possible to prevent the opening round game from being his last. Moala played with impressive fire and urgency as the game with Andale wound down. He scored 21 points after halftime, attacking the goal, fighting through traffic for tough scores, and hitting from deep. Paola ultimately came up short, but Moala left a lasting impression with 30 points and 10 boards.
Brahm Born Brahm Born 5'10" | CG Girard | 2022 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, 2022, Girard:
Another player losing a close one in his final game, Born and Girard lost in the first round to Royal Valley 60-56. Born hit 8-19 shots and 5-8 free throws for 22 points in the defeat. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 3 assists.
Henry Thengvall Henry Thengvall 6'5" | PF Kapaun Mt. Carmel | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-5 forward, 2022, Kapaun:
Thengvall had a great senior season, but the 5A top-seeded Crusaders ran into the Seaman juggernaut and are now part of history. The senior Thengvall did all he could to prevent the upset. He notched 19 points and 9 boards. It was a great effort, representative of his 20.5 point per game average.
Carson Bennett Carson Bennett 6'2" | SF Hugoton | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-2 forward, 2023, Hugoton (pictured):
The top junior on this list, Bennett put up a great fight against the eventual champion Hesston in the opening round. He hit 7-13, including 3-6 shots from deep, for 18 points, more than half of Hugoton’s total output. Bennett was a stat-sheet stuffer as a junior with 13.5 points, 4.5 boards and 3 assists.
Landon Boss Landon Boss 6'1" | SF Osage City | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-1 forward, 2023, Osage City:
Another junior worthy of note, Boss led the resistance against Southeast of Saline in the opener. One of the top bucket-getters in the state, Boss hit 7-15, including 2-2 from behind the arc, for 19 points in the finale. For his junior campaign, Boss averaged 23.5 points and 8.2 boards per contest.
