Adrian Maloney Jr | Prep Hoops Scout
As a 3-level scorer with quick defensive hands, he demonstrates versatility on both ends of the court. In a recent game, Watson showcased his offensive prowess by scoring 17 points, utilizing his effective pull-up jumper and accuracy from beyond the three-point line. Watson has a spin back jumper that he pulls off every game and its nearly ungurdable when he uses it.

Watson is one of the smoothest guards in the state. He’s super explosive and very effective in transition, able to finish fast breaks with a dunk. Off the dribble, Watson is creative enough to make space to get a shot off from just about anywhere. Defensively, Watson’s jumping ability makes up for his size, allowing him to contest or block the shots of other guards. He is also disruptive in passing lanes and good at rushing ball handlers.

Point Guard, #3 Overall:
Arguably the slickest, most flashy guard in the state, Watson is worth the price of admission. He is a highlight-maker as a ballhandler and distributor, but you need to know that he can also light it up from deep – he hit over 50% on threes last year. He also defends and rebounds at a high level for his size. He’s led his team to a lot of wins and back-to-back trips to state.

The second-ranked player in the class has led Olathe North on a steady climb this season. From unranked, the Eagles have climbed to #4 in the rankings, which shouldn’t come as a surprise since this group went to state a year ago and returned key pieces. Watson teams with junior TJ Porter TJ Porter 5'7" | PG Olathe North | 2024 State KS to keep the Eagles running at top speed. They play a small lineup, but every game is a track meet. Watson, who was recently named MVP of the Orange and Black Classic, cracks double figures in nearly every game, while running point, setting up the offense and distributing the ball. He’s not a big player, but he plays big.
