Check out who some of the top performers were in Thursday night’s action.
Adou Thiero Adou Thiero 6'4" | CG Quaker Valley | 2022 State PA – 6’5″ G – Quaker Valley
Thiero played this game with a broken growth plate in his shooting hand, and still dropped 31 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and blocked seven shots. An absolutely gutsy showing from the senior to win the title. The lengthy point guard took it upon himself to lead his team all the way to the gold medal, scoring 22 in a valiant second-half effort. Drove to the rim fiercely and crashed the boards as hard as anyone all day. Drew 14 fouls and hit all six of his crucial free throws late in the win. D1 prospect picked up an offer from local A10 school Duquesne after this game.
Vason Stevenson Vason Stevenson 6'3" | SG Montour | 2022 State PA – 6’4″ G – Montour
Stevenson traded buckets with QV’s Thiero and Frank throughout the game, and specifically in the second half. Did all he could to keep his team close the whole way through. He smoothly drove the ball through the lane and navigated the paint as well as anyone on the night. Showcased great touch around the rim and explosiveness. Finished with 23 points, hitting an efficient 11 of his 16 shots, and also grabbed 8 rebounds.
Markus Frank Markus Frank 6'5" | PF Quaker Valley | 2022 State PA – 6’6″ F – Quaker Valley
After going 1 for 5 from the field in the first half for five points, Frank lit up the scoresheet in the second, going 7 for 10 for 18 more points and zero turnovers in the half. Frank is a slashing wing with great size and strength. One of the top scorers in the WPIAL regardless of class because he simply finds his way to the rack. Showed off a smooth touch around the rim with both hands. Really took over and complemented PG Thiero well off the ball.
Dante Deltondo – 6’1″ G – Montour
Deltondo is a solid shooting guard who struggled early but found his shot as the game went on. Hit two of his four three-point attempts and also dished out a team-high two assists. Fed Stevenson when he was in attack mode, and took care of the ball. Grabbed a steal and three rebounds.
