Photo: James Quinn (BQPictures.com)[/caption]
Earlier this week we published our Class of 2022 prospect rankings and by now you are familiar with the names who have remained at the top list for a year or more. Names like five-star recruits [player_tooltip player_id="991185" first="Dereck" last="Lively II"], [player_tooltip player_id="991192" first="Christopher" last="Moncrief"] and [player_tooltip player_id="991188" first="Jameel" last="Brown"].

So today we will review the Pennsylvania Class of 2022 rankings and reveal seven players who used the 2021 “fall ball” events as well as the 2021-22 high school season to increase their recruiting stock significantly.

Below are seven southeastern Pennsylvania stock risers you need to keep an eye on for the remainder of the 2021-22 high school post season and at the next level.

214 to 34…[player_tooltip player_id="1121756" first="Christian" last="Fermin"] – 6’10” / Pocono Mountain West / PSA Cardinals / Power Forward: It is hard to believe this double-double machine (22 points & 10 rebounds per game this season) only started playing basketball in 9th grade. Fermin’s superb athleticism, shot blocking and ability to run rim to rim have been elite for some time now. This season it was his more polished offensive game especially his significantly improved shooting stroke that sent Fermin’s recruiting stock soaring. Two monster games by Fermin this winter really standout -- 32 points; 20 boards and 5 blocks in a win over Parkland and 36 points, 17 rebounds & 5 blocks against Nazareth. Recently Fermin was named the 2021-22 East Penn Conference MVP. He is committed to VCU and his potential as a college stretch-4 is exciting.

NR to 53…[player_tooltip player_id="1379563" first="Quin" last="Berger"] – 6’3’’ / Westtown School / NJ Shoreshots / Combo Guard: In 2020-21 Berger was a reserve for a Westtown roster filled with future NBA players. This season he earned a starting spot, then posted a two month long stretch of outstanding play. Thus, his recruiting stock has skyrocketed. From early January to the end of the regular season Berger simply went off. Included in that impressive span of play was a 39-point effort vs. ANC as well as four other games in which he scored 20 or more points. His ability to score at all three levels will make him a terrific college player. Berger is a 1,000-point scorer who is also a coach’s son, so you know his basketball IQ is high. He holds offers from College of Charleston and NJIT.

NR to 121…[player_tooltip player_id="814908" first="Prince" last="Mosengo"] – 6’8’’ / Keystone Athletic Academy / Team Florida / Power Forward: The former Victory Rock Prep (FL) standout is high DI prospect who is new to the Pennsylvania rankings. Mosengo brought length, tremendous athleticism, and a soft touch around the basket to the Keystone AA lineup. On the interior Mosengo can absorb contact and then score the ball. When that contact draws a foul call, Mosengo steps to the charity stripe and knocks free throws down at a high clip. On the perimeter, he can pop mid-range jumpers and is showing glimpses of range beyond the arc. At the defensive end, Mosengo’s wingspan and quick reactions make him an intimidating rim protector. Mosengo holds numerous offers including ones from Akron, Iona, South Florida, UNCW and FGCU

185 to 155…[player_tooltip player_id="991324" first="Luke" last="Boyd"] – 6’2” / Archbishop Ryan / Team Final Black / Combo Guard: After posting an outstanding fall, Boyd (15 ppg.) continues to prove that he can score at all three levels. He scored 26 points vs. West Philly and then drained 4 threes on his way to 21 points in win over Central Dauphin. Against Central Dauphin he also grabbed 6 rebounds and had 6 blocks. His elite 3-point shooting (37%) is Boyd’s calling card, but his quickness, athleticism and vertical leap catch opponents by surprise. Last week Boyd was named to the 2021-22 All Philadelphia Catholic League 2nd Team.
[caption id="attachment_1374445" align="alignleft" width="134"] [player_tooltip player_id="1382941" first="David" last="Kearney"] from Haverford School. Photo: Haverford School Athletics[/caption]
NR to 180…[player_tooltip player_id="1382941" first="David" last="Kearney"] – 6’5” / Haverford School / East Coast Power / Small Forward: This long and athletic forward with a developing 3-point stroke projects as a college stretch-4. Kearney has an extensive mid-range bag of tricks and can operate in transition as a ball handler or lane filler. Kearney will also do the dirty work on the boards and at the defensive end. He averaged 16.9 points (19 ppg. in Inter-Ac play) and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field. He scored a season high 29 (2 threes) against Episcopal Academy. Kearney is hearing from D3 school such as Lycoming, Wilkes, Widener and Elizabethtown.

208 to 195…[player_tooltip player_id="1275989" first="Zavier" last="Mayo"] – 6’4” / Phoenixville / PSB Philly / Combo Guard: Mayo’s length, quickness, athleticism, and versatility create real matchup problems for opponents. Mayo (14.7 ppg.) is too quick to be guarded by forwards and he can shoot/score over most backcourt players. This season Mayo (Pioneer Athletic Conference POY candidate) displayed an improved 3-point shot (26 3PM) which further expanded his scoring arsenal. Mayo scored a season high 26 points (3 triples) in a win over PJP and recently registered 19 points in the Districtv1-5A quarterfinal game. So far, Mayo is drawing interest from several D3 schools.

229 to 219…[player_tooltip player_id="1202391" first="Allen" last="Cieslak"] – 6’1” / Devon Prep / East Coast Power / Combo Guard: On a Devon Prep team loaded with college prospects, Cieslak (10 ppg.; 3 rpg and 3 apg.) has done a tremendous job of carving out a role for himself as a high IQ backcourt player who can score off the ball or operate as a primary ball handler/distributor. Off the ball, Cieslak is a floor spacer with a quick trigger and textbook mechanics who shot 36% from behind the arc. When he slides over to the lead guard spot, Cieslak rarely commits a turnover and on occasion he will blow by his defender for a lay-in. Cieslak netted a season high 26 points (5 threes) against Father Judge and is committed to Susquehanna University.
