EAST TROY -- Capping off a perfect regular season against in-state foes, Milwaukee Academy of Science survived a strong test from East Troy 77-69 on Saturday...

[player_tooltip player_id="1089679" first="Nas" last="Beamon"] - 2024 - G - Milwaukee Academy of Science

Beamon scored a team-high 25 points and came up big down the stretch. Beamon also got off to a great start, scoring the first seven points for the Novas. A guard that can get downhill and put pressure on a defense, Beamon has a quick first step and excellent upper body strength. His shot appears to be improving. Release is still a little long, but Beamon knocked shots down consistently from all areas on Saturday. East Troy started to get hot late in the game and it was Beamon who silenced a lot of runs and made key free throws down the stretch. His efforts included more than points -- generating turnovers and stops on the defensive end. The Trojans had a lot of guys in foul trouble throughout the game and you can attribute a lot of that to Beamon, who got to the line 10 times.

[player_tooltip player_id="1089678" first="Tayshawn" last="Bridges"] - 2024 - SG - Milwaukee Academy of Science

When Bridges is at his best, I'm not sure there's much of a question that he's the most talented player in Wisconsin's 2024 class. There's a certain switch he can flip on and take over a ball game. When MAS got in trouble, that's exactly what Bridges did. The 6-foot-2 guard has some unbelievable explosiveness on the ball and just left defenders frozen at times. Once he gets to the paint, it takes a lot to stop Bridges, who has outstanding body control and toughness to be able to absorb hits. The sophomore guard had 18 points on Saturday and also got to the foul line at crucial moments. Still needs to pair his driving ability with a consistent jumper that he doesn't lose confidence in, but wouldn't categorize Bridges as a poor shooter by any means.

[player_tooltip player_id="865845" first="Chase" last="Cummings"] - 2022 - G - East Troy

There’s some really sneaky quickness on the ball here. Cummings doesn’t look like he’s moving at a fast pace, but was carving up some pretty good athletes and getting to the rim with ease on Saturday. The senior guard scored a game-high 25 points and had a big spurt late in the game that looked like it would be enough for East Troy to pull off the upset. Cummings is crafty in traffic and just has different ways to evade defenders or get the ball in the cup. He made MAS pick their poison by also shooting it really well off the catch from 3-point range. Cummings handles the point duties, but was able to score off the ball and knocked in five 3-pointers, including two in crunch time as the game was going back and forth. Cummings has quietly been having one of the better senior seasons that people aren't talking about, averaging 23 points per game for a very good Trojan squad, capable of going deep into March.

[player_tooltip player_id="1390443" first="Davion" last="Hannah"] - 2025 - F - Milwaukee Academy of Science

Think Hannah is going to grab a top-five spot in Wisconsin’s 2025 rankings. Hannah left some points on the floor on Saturday, but did contribute nine points and showed off a high ceiling. His brother, Bradley forward Darius Hannah, is 6-foot-9. Hannah is 6-foot-5 and has the length that suggests he could be around the same size. Really like the way Hannah can size people up in the mid-range and go to work. He’s also a coast-to-coast threat with the basketball. Still very raw, but Hannah has got some skills offensively and a high motor on the offensive glass. Defensively, he can defend four positions right now and has a ton of versatility on that end of the floor. Hannah had three blocks, all of which were sent away with authority. Looking forward to seeing Hannah’s progress next year and how dangerous he can make this MAS squad that’s already loaded with youth.

[player_tooltip player_id="950103" first="Colin" last="Terpstra"] - 2022 - SF - East Troy

Terpstra shot the ball extremely well. This kid has one of the smoothest strokes in the state. The 6-foot-3 wing was ripping off triples despite tight coverage at times. It didn’t matter how he was defended, Terpstra’s stroke was the same every single time. Defenders were right up in his chest and Terpstra still wasn’t fazed. Scoring 22 points, Terpstra ended up hitting five triples in the loss.
