Updated 2022 Rankings: FREE Overview

We have finally updated our class of 2022 rankings, and with the season coming to an end in VA it comes at the perfect time! We have ranked 130 players in the class, something that’s very tough to limit with all of the talented and college worthy players in the state of VA. Enjoy the rankings and stay tuned for upcoming content this week including new faces, biggest stock risers, positional rankings and committed players in the class!

As always, we apologize if we have overlooked a few kids, but it’s a very difficult job to do!

Oak Hill Transfers Are New Names in the Top 10

As always, legendary Head Coach Steve Smith, who recently announced he will retire after this season after 37 years at the school and over 1,200 wins, has brought in a loaded group of transfers that are all high major players and has assembled one of the top teams in the country. For that reason, the top 10 looks much different, along with the fact that a few players including Justin Taylor and Justyn Fernandez Justyn Fernandez 6'4" | CG IMG Academy | 2022 #125 Nation VA left for other schools or enrolled early at their college.

The new number one in the state comes from Oak Hill as Kentucky commit and top 10 nationally ranked prospect Chris Livingston Chris Livingston 6'6" | SF Oak Hill Academy | 2022 State #9 Nation VA transferred from Buchtel High School in Akron, OH. Joining him in the top 10 are Devin Red at #8, and LSU commit from Tennessee, and Christian Reeves Christian Reeves 7'0" | C Oak Hill Academy | 2022 State VA at #9, a Duke commit from North Carolina, along with Judah Mintz Judah Mintz 6'4" | SG Oak Hill | 2022 State #131 Nation VA at #6 who was at Oak Hill last season as well.

Tons of Available Players for All Levels Still

While there’s always been a lot of available players in the VA area around this time, the ever changing dynamic of the college recruiting world with the extra year for players due to Covid along with the transfer portal and JUCO market taking off, there’s more than ever it seems like. While Judah Mintz Judah Mintz 6'4" | SG Oak Hill | 2022 State #131 Nation VA is the only player in the top 10 that is uncommited, there are 14 players in the top 30 and 32 players in the top 50 that are still available.

Beyond that, this state has always produced great talent for division two and division three schools, and there’s still plenty of players available at that level as well.

One event to check out for schools looking for available players will be the CBG Unsigned Senior Showcase on March 13 at LC Bird High School!
