Our Southwest District Previews continue with Division III today. These previews feature teams like Taft and Versailles among plenty of other talented teams.

Southwest 1

Top Teams: Versailles, Georgetown, Gamble Montessori

Potential Sleeper: Purcell Marian- The Cavaliers played the role of Cinderella last season and very well could do it again. With a proven scorer in [player_tooltip player_id="1045460" first="Andre" last="Simmons"] and favorable game against Cincinnati Country Day, the Cavs could find themselves making another run.

District Final: Versailles over Gamble Montessori- Very few teams have been able to figure out how to beat Versailles this season. With a guy like Jaydon Litten leading you, it’s no reason the Tigers are so good. Gamble has had themselves a great season but run into a Versailles team that just doesn’t allow themselves to lose games.

Southwest 2

Top Teams: Taft, Dayton Christian, Indian Lake

Possible Sleeper: Carlisle- The Indians are starting to find their footing winning 7 of their last 9 games entering the tournament. [player_tooltip player_id="1285257" first="connor" last="smith"] (2023) has become a scoring threat for the Indians and will need to have his best game yet for Carlisle to knock off an Indian Lake team first round.

District Final: Taft over Indian Lake- You can’t pick against the Senators when you have a nationally known player in [player_tooltip player_id="867936" first="Rayvon" last="Griffith"] and numerous complimentary pieces in [player_tooltip player_id="809611" first="Mekhi" last="Elmore"], [player_tooltip player_id="1088811" first="Eian" last="Elmer"], and Kieran Granville-Britten. The Lakers have had another great season but just don’t have the pieces needed to upset Taft.

Southwest 3

Top Teams: CHCA, Preble Shawnee, Meadowdale

Possible Sleeper: Madeira- The Mustangs have a special player in junior Conner Cravaack who at 6-foot-5 can create problems. A potential game with CHCA can allow the Mustangs to play spoiler.

District Final: CHCA over Meadowdale- The Lions would be making a historic run behind the play of Kalerrio Reaves and [player_tooltip player_id="922591" first="Lee" last="Benson"], but CHCA hasn’t lost a game since December 29th and they have shown they can beat different style teams so far this year.

Southwest 4

Top Teams: Summit Country Day, Shawnee, Greenon

Possible Sleeper: Mariemont- Tim Stewart is one of the best scorers in the CHL and could spell problems for Summit in the Sectional play. If he can get himself a 25-30 points outing, it could be enough to challenge the Knights.

District Final: Shawnee over Summit Country Day- I think Summit will survive to this game, but facing a Shawnee team that has been here before and has a true athletic stud in [player_tooltip player_id="1201838" first="Zion" last="Crowe"] doesn’t spell well for the Knights.
