Here is my list at some of the top prospects you cannot miss seeing for yourself before we start playoff matchups here in Texas! It will be interesting to see who steps their game up in the playoffs....

[player_tooltip player_id="787342" first="Chris" last="Johnson"] 2023 6’4 Fort Bend Elkins High School
Chris is one of the most impressive scorers I have seen in a few years. His patience and ability to single handily take over any game makes him an elite weapon. He is a dynamic scorer with great size at the guard position, he can bully defenders off of him in the paint with ease and finish using his athleticism and ability to hang in the air. He has incredible ball control and his ability to get downhill and get his shot off the dribble was incredibly impressive. His constant aggression and willingness to attack the basket ended up putting a ton of pressure on the defense of every team he faced.

He lived in the paint and subsequently the free throw line as well. I was blown away by his ability to dominate in the midrange with his back to the basket, he was incredibly tough to defend once the defense was on its heels trying to protect the paint and he rose up for a quick two dribble pull up. In the most recent game I saw him play (highlights below) he was missing his senior big man and took over the game for all four quarters, he showed an ability to dominate the ball and creating every single look for his team. He has recently been working out with a few prominent Houston Rockets coaches and trainers, so it is not surprising to see him have a little bit of that James Harden mold in him. Already boasting plenty of Division 1 offers including Kansas and recently Memphis, Johnson is going to end up being a very special player, and a college coach is going to get one hell of a basketball player.

https://youtu.be/uxgbH8vkUuY

[player_tooltip player_id="1052074" first="Camron" last="Amboree"] 2022 6’2 Shadow Creek High School
Camron has been lighting it up for Shadow Creek and is a real one two punch with Shawn Jones. Amboree has the ability to fill up the stat sheet from beyond the arc. Amboree recently set the Shadow Creek High School record for 46 points in a game to go along with 9 (!!!) three pointers made. He is very comfortable getting to his own shot off the dribble, even from deep NBA level range. It has been a real pleasure watching him pick apart defenses with the threat of his scoring ability.

However, his ability to control the game and play at his own speed is what truly makes him special, he never seems sped up or rushed into bad looks. He consistently makes the right reads and is always directing traffic and helping out the young talent Shadow Creek has coming up behind him. Watching him run in transition might be the best part of his game, he is a bully when committing to getting to the rim and will finish over anyone he has to with the right touch. Look for him to be lighting it up at Oral Roberts University next year!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcySI2z0LZ0

[player_tooltip player_id="1052160" first="Dubem" last="Muoneke"] 2022 6’6 Cypress Ranch High School

Dubem is a surprisingly athletic big man who can do it all for his team on both ends of the floor. He is the definition of a paint beast, whether that is throwing down thunderous dunks, rejecting shots at the rim or clearing the glass and starting the fast break. He even displayed an impressive handle and ability to get downhill with a live dribble. It was fun watching him create much like Giannis does in the league; putting his head down and running you over to get to his spot. I was really blown away by his all around game for an undersized forward. He looks like he is capable of transitioning into a wing at the next level or become an extremely switchable forward.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPDg4UflXOc

[player_tooltip player_id="787348" first="Zyon" last="Little"] 2023 6’6 Dickinson High School
Zyon is a monster in the paint who thrives at scoring through contact and tough defense. He is a dominant force with his back to he basket, and can destroy his matchup out of the high post as well. He can size up and bully his way through his defender to the rim. He is great on the glass and made smart outlet passes to jump start the break. His athleticism allows him to wreak havoc on both ends of the floor and take on anyone he wants to in the air. He is a solid rim protector but shares the front court with another strong post presence. Look for him to have a break out year next year when he gets a bit more space to work in the paint, but they have a real shot to make it far in the post season as well. Little is a special player with all the tools to become a high level defending wing/ forward at the next level.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTUuu7X9TfQ

[player_tooltip player_id="1056399" first="Jace" last="Posey"] 2023 Strake Jesuit High School
Jace is a special combo guard who can fill it up from all three levels. I was blown away by his aggressiveness and willingness to take over the game and attack the basket. When his team began to go down early in the second quarter, he single-handidly put the team on his back and changed the momentum in the game by getting a few big time dunks, And-1s and hitting tough shots in the midrange. Posey is a prospect to keep your eye on, especially as he continues to develop and have break out games like this one!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTUuu7X9TfQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD5sZOGWiLA
