This article covers the top guards I saw from this past week in Columbus. I went to Heath at Licking Heights on Tuesday night, where they won 65-42, and then on Saturday night, I was in the building for Hillard Davidson’s game-winner over Dublin Coffman giving them the 52-50 win.

Sheldon is a great point guard. He is highly skilled. Great handle and passer. Next level vision and IQ. Makes the right read and passes to the open man with the ball. He has a pretty shot and touch. Hit some very tough floaters and pull-ups. He is very aggressive in transition, never letting the defense get set up. He throws his body around and into defenders and hits some tough and-1s. Had a big time and-1 late in the fourth. To top his game off he is a great athlete - very nice bounce, super quick, and fast.

G 6’5. Heath

Keylan is a big guard. He is listed at 6’5 with a good build. He is long and very athletic. These tools give him the ability to play and guard other guards. His skillset of the tight handle and great driving ability makes him a mismatch. Then when you add in his ability to shoot the ball he becomes a nightmare. He is very calm and does let pressure bother him. He handled the ball most of the time for Heath but I believe he will make a very nice off-ball guard at the next level and make a college coach very happy.

Paris left the gym buzzing. He hit a game-winning three-point buzzer-beater to win by two. He showed off his quick and smooth jumper as he hit a three to end the third quarter as well. He has some very nice framework - very long, wide frames, and moves well for a guard at his size. He has a nice touch and loves the floater in the lane. He is very patient when he gets there as well, does a nice job of bouncing around and finding the lane to attack or open teammate. He also uses his pump fake and one dribble pull-up very nicely as well.

G 6’0. Licking Heights

I liked Griffith’s game on Tuesday. He is a smaller but very mature build for his size. He kept Licking Heights in it during the whole game never letting Heath feel comfortable. He hit multiple pull-ups and threes showing off his nice stroke and shooting ability. I loved his competitiveness and effort as well.
