Recruiting Report: Timothy Kreeger (2017)

The District 8 Player of the Year, <strong>Timothey Kreeger</strong> (2017) from Delphos St. John’s, has been dominating the paint in the Midwest Athletic Conference. At 6’8”, the senior center is having his way with opponents. His height, mobility, and skill, have attracted a recent offer from Malone. “Just last week, I got my offer from Malone,” Kreeger confirmed. The offer came after a campus visit. Even though Kreeger has turned down other scholarship offers, from Division II football programs and Division III basketball, he does have other options. “Right now, I’m kind of open to everything … Marietta College is my top D-III school. They got a really good program there,” Kreeger said. He clarified that of all the Division III schools who have welcomed him into their program, Marietta is the only realistic fit. Along that same vein, a few in-state football programs wanted him to come on as a wide receiver/tight end/defensive end hybrid. As far as possible landing spots, he’s listening to some NAIA and D-II programs. “Clarion College in Pennsylvania. Malone. I guess like for a while, West Liberty was talking to me, but they kind of stopped talking to me because I think they got another guy. And then, there’s some NAIA schools, like Huntington,” Kreeger said. Kreeger later mentioned that Jewell College (MO) is hoping he visits after the season. “Honestly I’m just looking for good team, good people that I can relate with. Have fun playing basketball with. And then, everybody wants to play for a good team, so I’m looking for that too. Also, my career obviously. Because the end goal is to get an education,” Kreeger said. Speaking of education, Kreeger has a formulated plan of how he’d like to utilize a college degree. “Secondary education in History — and major in History. And then I want to get my Master’s in Education. Then, I want to be a principle,” Kreeger said. What stuck out during the interview, where we asked questions about his individual ability, is that Kreeger consistently brought it back to how he fits into a team structure. “I’m definitely a post scorer. I really just use my post moves … I really think that helps space the floor because we got some good shooters. My ability to pass this year has steadily increased,” Kreeger said. Kreeger gave a somewhat similar answer about defense, where he provides rim protection. “My guys can maybe gamble a little bit more sometimes. Or play a lot tougher defense knowing that I’m there to help,” Kreeger said. It's also worth reiterating that the big guy can move. He covers a lot of ground from the weak-side. In order to take the next step, Kreeger would like to be a “stretch 5” option. Kreeger will maintain and develop his interior abilities, but is also hoping to become a better dribbler and shooter. &nbsp; &nbsp;
