On Tuesday, February 1st I attended the 4A contest between American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek and Saguaro at Saguaro HS in Scottsdale, AZ.

I watched all three games with Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity.

A lot of new players were discovered and I wrote about some of the players who stood out.

Here were the standouts from the Freshman and JV games:

Freshman game:

Nashoba Redhouse SG 5’9 2025 Saguaro

A skilled undersized guard can hit the catch-3 consistently. He can hit the mid-range pull-up and he has a smooth stroke with a quicker release. He can score it with either hand and has no conscience. He will miss three and keep shooting the ball. He played on JV as well.

OShea Bonner PG 5’9 2025 Saguaro

A pure PG with good court vision. He made many up the court passes on a dime to cutting teammates. He has real speed with the ball in his hands and uses it on the ball defensively. He also played on JV.

JV game:

Koda Jackson CG 5’9 2023 Saguaro

A strong guard can hit the catch-3 and moves smartly without the ball. He is tough getting downhill but is best firing away from deep. A high IQ guard knows the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1379202" first="Mason" last="Whitaker"] Saguaro

A quick-twitch athlete who can score it on the break. He is tough on the ball defensively and he is a very unselfish player. He can euro his way to the basket and score. He can thread the needle or drive and dime a teammate.

Owen Pimbert PG 5’11 2025 Saguaro

A pure PG who gets the ball out of his hands in a blink of an eye. He has a nice burst and then will use the floater. He has a strong upper body and confidence to make plays for others.

Flash Seever 6’4 PF 2024 ALA-QC

A long and skinny post player who runs the floor well and will block shots. Ha has a floater and will score it inside. He can face-up to the 3pt line and takes long strides to get to the basket.

Kingston Walker CG 6’2 2025 ALA-QC

A combo guard who can handle it, facilitate and score. He can pull-up off the dribble and has a pure stroke from deep with range. He has pretty good size and plays a smart floor game.

Layfe Clarkson SG 6’0 2025 ALA-QC

A scoring guard who makes shots. He can pull-up from mid to the 3pt line. He has a floater game and will make shots in traffic. He can get hot quickly and he should contribute on varsity next season.
