<p>The NCHSAA sections are starting to take shape and prospects are beginning to separate themselves from the pack. Here’s a look at the 1A East Guards to get eyes on through the rest of January. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="932137" first="Amarion" last="McCrae"] | 6’4 Wing/Guard | North Edgecombe</h5>
<p>McCrae has been a double-double machine on the wing for North Edgecombe as they’re 10-3 so far on the year. He’s putting up 21.8 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 3.5 spg, 2.9 apg and 1.8 bpg while shooting an efficient 57 percent from the field as a slasher and attacker. He’s put together 10 double-doubles through 13 games so far in 2021-22 with the conference schedule heating up and a 75-74 victory over KIPP Pride entering the final two months of the season. He’s a wiry wing prospect to keep eyes on.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1082589" first="TJ" last="Ragland"] | 6’2 Guard | Henderson Collegiate</h5>
<p>Ragland has started to find his own in the Henderson Collegiate backcourt as their lead guard. They’re off to a 2-0 conference start as he produces 15.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.8 apg and 2.5 spg in the Pride rotation as the leader on the floor. He’s got the ability to play either guard spot and shoots 45 percent from the field as an operator in the midrange area. As he improves his range, look for his stock to grow.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="945081" first="Cam" last="Lutterloh"] | 6’3 Shooting Guard | River Mill</h5>
<p>Lutterloh is an emerging shooter at River Mill High that’s averaging 22.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.3 spg and 2.0 apg in the backcourt. He’s shooting 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the arc through 16 contests on the year as one of the more consistent shooters in the 1A East region. He’ll be a name to keep an eye on as the postseason approaches soon.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1008409" first="Zay" last="Mayo"] | 6’2 Guard | Southwest Edgecombe</h5>
<p>Mayo is an unsigned senior that’s putting up impressive production in the Southwest Edgecombe backcourt. He’s putting up 20.1 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 4.3 apg and 2.3 spg as an all-around presence in their rotation in his final season as a high school basketball player. He’s an underrated prospect that plays big on both ends of the floor and knows how to make an impact.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="577870" first="Dontavious" last="Pettaway"] | 6’4 Wing/Guard | Greene Central</h5>
<p>Pettaway is a leading name in the Greene Central rotation with his ability to score, defend and rebound the ball. He’s posted 10.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg and 2.0 spg as a two-way threat that sets the tone in their rotation. He’s an underrated athletic presence that can attack off the bounce, play physical down low and create turnovers on the wing.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1342384" first="Javon" last="Bullock"] | 6’3 Wing/Forward (ATH) | JF Webb</h5>
<p>Bullock is an athletic presence in the JF Webb rotation that plays with a ton of energy and effort. He’s producing 19.9 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 2.5 bpg and 2.2 spg as a presence on the perimeter and around the paint area this season with his length and athleticism. He’s proven he can step out and knock down shots as well, as evidenced by his 34 percent shooting on the perimeter. He’s an athletic unsigned senior name with room to develop as an all-around threat.</p>
