On January 14th I attended Justin Vargas’s Winter Warzone tournament at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ.

I watched six local prep teams with some post grad teams mixed in with HS preps.

Here were some of the post grad standouts:

[player_tooltip player_id="809729" first="Demetrus" last="Johnson II"] Bella Vista Prep (Pictured left)

A pure PG who is honing his skills. His shooting stroke looks more polished and has deeper range. He makes reads and the ball is on string for him. He gets the ball out of his hands quickly. He uses his speed to turn the corner on his defender and get to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275621" first="Cade" last="Holzman"] Bella Vista Prep (Pictured right)

A versatile forward who can play inside and out. He can hit the catch-3, score it in the paint plus dunk it in transition. He can rebound the ball and push the break and will defend the 3-5.

[player_tooltip player_id="703811" first="Jason" last="Kimbrough Jr"] Bella Vista Prep

A top-tier on-ball defender with big time lateral quickness. He looks a little stronger, quicker and plays a smart floor game. He talks all game long on defense. Offensively, he has the deep ball and a polished floater game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1035642" first="Jaleon" last="Israel"] PHH Prep

A talented guard is finally healthy and looks sharp. He is an easy 3pt shooter who is a good passer. He has some real bounce exploding up quickly and brings energy to the game. He can get hot quickly.

[player_tooltip player_id="1275622" first="Keyon" last="Menifield"] PHH Prep

One of the more gifted guards in the state. He makes the game look easy and it seems like everyone he is playing against are in slow motion. He has incredible speed with the ball and his shift is a thing of beauty. He is shockingly athletic and he plays like he is gliding on the court. The Washington commit is a bucket.

[player_tooltip player_id="1311502" first="Javion" last="Langston"] Skyline Prep

An athletic wing plays like a point forward. He is a way better passer then I realized and will drive and kick it into a teammates shooting pocket. He uses his length to rebound and block shots out of his area. He can dribble drive and lay it in plus hit the occasional 3.

[player_tooltip player_id="1323909" first="Kwat" last="Abdelkarim"] Skyline Prep

An athletic guard is a stud in transition. He is very quick on the ball defensively and brings a motor to the game. He can hit from the perimeter and likes to get downhill.

[player_tooltip player_id="703815" first="Kevin" last="Kogbara"] Skyline Prep

A talented rare point power forward type had a good weekend. He can hit the 3pt shot off the catch and can give a ball fake and drive it to the basket. He rebounds the ball at a high level in his area with his ridiculous strength and power. He is a phenomenal passer and made some noise and gained some college interest.

[player_tooltip player_id="703839" first="Elijah" last="Thomas"] Skyline Prep

Another talented forward that was recently brought into the fold. He is getting stronger and his shoulders are getting wider and he is putting on weight. He jumps up quickly to dunk the ball and rises high for rebounds. He can hit from mid to the 3pt line.

[player_tooltip player_id="1323915" first="Remington" last="Rofer"] Skyline Prep

A face-up forward who can hit the catch-3 with ease. He has a consistent approach to the game and gets the same release every time. He is posting up a little with his back to the basket more and can even run the break and flush it down. The IQ player is a steady performer.
